Feb. 26th, 2018

tarotgal: (Disney: Evil)
So... February has been interesting.

Home: Fridge no longer leaks. Ice maker has been fixed! Still haven't called my parents' power washing guy. Need to do that.

Charlie kitty: Still don't know what to feed her, but I know what not to feed her. Ordered some new food that has a little of what she can't eat but mostly stuff she can. We're going to give it a try. May take a while to ease her into it.

My health: Physically, okay. The new diet hasn't been too hard to maintain. I've been working out 3-5 times a week and as of this morning, I've lost a little more than 12 pounds. I have an order for another blood test in May to see if it's making any difference as far as the pre-diabetes goes. I was supposed to work out today, but by the time I stopped working, it was almost 9pm and I hadn't eaten dinner yet and the workout was 45 minutes long and... that just wasn't going to happen. Too exhausted today. When I make it through the whole 31 workouts, I get to open the box in my living room that contains a porg.

Star Wars: Took my daddy to see The Last Jedi yesterday for his birthday. He liked it. I think I liked it even more this time around, though I also cried through more of it. Was wonderful to get to share it with him.

Work: Less than 1 week until I leave for the conference. I AM IN TOTAL FREAKOUT MODE (as is usual at this time). I've been working 11 hour days and still not getting everything done.

Dental: Part 2 of 3 of my root canal this Wednesday. Oh joy!

Vacation: After the conference, I'm spending 4 nights and 5 days in Orlando! I'm really excited to see the half of the Wizarding World I haven't seen yet and to see parts of Disney I've never been to (which is everything outside the Magic Kingdom). It's going to be much more expensive than I'd hoped for, but it is what it is. I'm sitting through a Time Share lecture halfway through to help pay for a little of it. We'll see how that goes.

AwesomeCon: I wasn't going to go, but John Boyega was just announced as a guest so... yep. I bought a 3-day pass. It's literally the cheapest con I go to, so I don't have too much regret.

Budget: Speaking of which, I was SO GOOD at sticking to my budget in January. February... not so much.

New Phone: I'm trying to set my new phone up. The number is being transferred now. Could take a couple hours or a few days. Guess we'll see. I'm nervous about it. I hope it lets me do a few things my current phone can't. It's definitely not very spiffy though. I can't afford spiffy. All I'm hoping for the the ability to run more than 3 apps at a time. I'm going to need Uber while on vacation.

The Cursed Child: I bought myself a ticket. OMG expensive! I'm going to have to spend the night in NYC as well. But I'm strangely excited. I love stage magic. And this is still cheaper than a trip to the UK.

Harry Potter: Going to probably skip this month's discussion, because I'll be at the dentist just hours before. I'm rereading Deathly Hallows right now anyway. But I will be helping with our annual tea--Tea at the Burrow(s) on Sunday! This past Saturday, my local library had a Harry Potter event that was a whole lot of fun and really well attended. I brought in a lot of my things as props/decorations. And I was in charge of the game side of the game & food room (aka The Great Hall).

Book Club: I joined my local comic book shop's book club. So far, it's been good. Lots more discussion about RL than the books. But a fair amount of talking about comics and fandoms and all, so it's good. We read Ms. Marvel last month and Scooby Apocolypse this month. Next month it's Chrononauts. Which should be fun. It's a one-shot sci-fi bromance with time travel. What's not to love? Seriously.

Sundays: My new favorite thing (I've done it 4 Sundays in a row now) is to wake up on Sunday morning and finish a graphic novel in bed. That way, I can roll out of bed at 9 already having finished a book! Yay, sense of accomplishment! I'm working on Buffy Season 8, Volume 9 right now. Am really, really hating the series at the moment. I'm not going on to Season 9. I like my post-series headcanon much more.

Books: This month's BookCrossing meetup was nearby. We had lunch then walked down to the waterfront to leave books at the memorial tree planted in memory of our friend's daughter, who was a young BookCrosser herself. It's a lovely tradition, and it's nice to be there with friends. Two of my books have been caught!

Olympics: I didn't watch nearly enough of it due to the working 11 hours a day thing. But I cried through the whole closing ceremony last night. I hate when things end. Maybe that's why I'm so bad at finishing stories/projects? LOL

Meme: Speaking of projects, I do intend to do a meme in April again. Not sure when it'll start... I'll be at AwesomeCon March 30-April 1. So some time after that, I expect!

Status: Just trying to hang on, keep my head above water, get through my many To Do lists, and stay awake!
