Holiday Giftfics: Day 2

Title: Day 2
Author: tarotgal
Fandom: DC Universe
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not my characters. I wish they were mine. I definitely don’t get paid for this.
Summary: Bruce and Dick are waiting for Jason, but Jason is MIA.
Notes: Written during my 12 Ficlets in 12 Days in 2022-22 project project for symphonyflute
I have absolutely no idea what timeline this falls into, if any. Probably a weird mix of them. But it was fun to write, so I hope it's just as enjoyable to read! Fingers crossed!
Thank you!
The humor is awesome. I love the banter between Dick and Bruce. Especially this line:
“Hey, as someone who has been turned into an icicle, I know that’s not actually a risk here. You’re not a kid anymore. Stop being dramatic.”
Both of Nightwing’s eyebrows rose, not that those could be seen behind his mask. “Me being dramatic? Oh. that’s rich coming from the Dark Knight of Gotham city who is literally dressed like a giant bat.”
I also like that it's Dick being wary of Jason. In a lot of the fanfiction I read, it's vice versa. Dick is all open arms and ready to forgive, and I like the change of pace. It fit really well. Especially him getting worried that Jason had actually just set them up so he could commit a crime in peace or make them watch, but he actually just wanted their help and Dick went from "family isn't the person who stands you up on a building" to taking him home for Alfred's soup.
Thank you so much!
Re: Thank you!
I had so much fun writing their banter! I'm thrilled you got a kick out of it.
And I felt like Bruce was the only person Dick could be impatient and honest about regarding Jason. He wouldn't necessarily even show Jason his doubts, but he has to be honest with Bruce (partly because of their long relationship as partners and partly because Bruce can totally tell if anybody's trying to lie). So, yeah, he'll probably spend the rest of the night beating himself up internally for letting Jason hear that little bit of doubt. But the second he realized what was going down, he was definitely all about getting Jason home to recover.
