Yeah... back when they still thought diseases were caused by the 4 humours(bile, phlegm, blood... and the other one... I can't ever remember... it might be a variation on bile, though) and they did blood-letting and such for half the illnesses! *shiver*
But yes, lots of bedridden-ness in general accompanied nearly every ailment :-) GOT to love that!
