My Return

I'm back "home" :-) Just signed my lease so I've got this apartment for another year, whether that means subletting or not I don't know, but we'll see. I've got money through August, then I'm completely jobless and broke, so we'll see.

But yay, I'm back from New York! Had an interesting time travelling... Van to station, Grayhound bus, metro, Amtrack train, subway, taxi and back again. Gah! But we had good weather (a little warm for my taste lately) and I got some thinking and reading done, as well as a bunch of fun things with my two best friends :-)

The birthday theme was a little odd, but none the less fun. It involved circles, journeys and movies filmed in New York. So Friday we went to a coffee shop, saw Daredevil in theaters, went to the Guggenheim (where they filmed Hamlet) to see an AMAZING exhibit, went on the subway, took my friend to a psychic and painted our own pottery (Ghost). Saturday we went ice skating in central park (Serendipity) even though my other friend and I detest ice skaing, went to Serendipity 3 (for frozen hot chocolates) and went out to bar(s) for drinks and games (Coyote Ugly). Sunday we had brunch at The Screening Room and saw Breakfast at Tiffany's in their theater afterwards. And there was a LOT in between (we rented some movies, hung out with another friend in Barnes & Nobles, went shopping, etc.) It was a fun weekend and it was even better that I got to spend it with my two very best friends.

And related to my current fandom obsessions...

I watched Tuck Everlasting on Friday (er, and again on Sat) night(s). VERY good. After much experience with concepts relating to Highlander (immortals living/loving/losing) it was very interesting. I feel it really helped me explore the ideas of love and living a lot more. But I really liked it, and I cried like a baby both times at the ending (go fig, I cry at everything)

Sunday night I watched the new Dead Zone episode and to my surprise, Peter Wingfield (Highlander, X-Men 2) guest starred! *SQUEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* Absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

I started and finished The Hobbit during my travels from VA to NY- Mmmm LOVED it! Ok, Narnia still has it beat as far as my favorite fantasy world... but it's coming up much more closely. And I must admit, I got a bit of extra pleasure at Bilbo's sneezey cold three fourths of the way through *HUGE GRIN* Yummy little hobbits...

Came up with a few interesting new story ideas, as well... both within fandoms and for normal sneezing stories- which I haven't written in a long time, really. Not that I don't love writing fanfic, but sometimes original characters call out to me too and they cannot be denied :-) So hopefully I'll be able to get through my current works in progress (my Obi allergy fic, Under House Arrest, my non-named not-yet-posted HP fic with Siri and Harry, and another Tala fic) and start on a new story with... I'm not sure of his name yet... Phillip possibly... eh, we'll see. But it's set in New York- surprise! lol

And some nice developments on non sneezing fanfic stories... a beautiful vision of a scarred, stinging and bleeding Remus in the shower with Sirius to comfort him, for example. YUM!
*sigh* So many lovely ideas, soooooooooo little time!

I bought a Legolas poster this weekend *G* It was difficult to decide... there was a slended Arag-Gim-Leg one (with Leg in partial profile) but I finally decided upon the blue one. I think I'll be putting it up in my bedroom by my computer in the only clear wall space I have. *G*

Yummy laddie!
