LotR Fic

Well, I felt suddenly inspired and started on a sneezey!Legolas fic just now. I made it 3 paragraphs before stopping at a dead standstill.

I had hesitated to write, before, as I really don't yet feel comfortable in the universe. I've started the books, but I'm only a fifth of the way through the first. I really don't feel comfy with their characters and the feel of the world quite yet, and that became blatantly obvious after three paragraphs. Little details that I need to know I really have no clue about. So, I'm afraid, the story has been closed and will remain so at least until I finish the first book. Sad, really, but it's going to suck otherwise. Besides, I've got no plot, no idea who else is in the story, and no idea where or when it takes place. Until everything reveals itself, I'm not going to try for another word.

But hey, I tried, right? Gotta give me a little credit. It's just not my fandom yet, I'm afraid, as much as I loved the movies every time I watched them.

Telling & Appreciating

Just came back from boyfriend's from a nice fling. We were cuddling on the couch afterwards watching something or other on the television, and he sneezed. But not one of his normal cough-like sneezes which, honestly, are nice but don't really get me worked up (too fast, no notice, not my preferred sound).

Instead, he, very breathlessly whispers "It's coming". Like an idiot, watching the tv, I had no idea what he meant. But his deep intake of breath drew my eye and his face- ooohhh that absolutely delightful "I'm going to sneeze" face turning into a "Here it comes" face. And the sneeze, simply delicious- heh shhekshhh! -lush and full with proper build up and long enough to really pull at me. It was a single, sadly, but enough for an already spent me to still have my stomach flip. YUM. Not to say I don't love when the lad sneezes... but they very rarely get to me even half as much. So I really appreciated the warning and build-up. *EG*

Which led me to really appreciate my telling him about my fetish. Especially that very happy smile he gave me afterwards, feeling pleased that he'd so easily turned me on.

LotR Questions

OK... I feel like an idiot and a half asking some of these. But I've only seen each movie twice and please, please believe me when I say I don't feel at all comfy in the universe yet. And I guess e-mailing people individually would be better, but I got a "big" response from my LJ post on my story, so maybe people will notice this and answer my questions? :-) Please? :-)
A link to a nice LotR reference would be good, too, if you don't feel up to answering my questions through laughter. Thanks!

*Aragorn has this elf thing going on. I'm a little confused about that. How long has he lived with the elves? (It seems to me that he did, and for a while?) Why was he, indeed, living with them?

*Legolas of Greenleaf... ok, so his Ada's a king, yes? What's the elf governmental heirarchy? How exactly did the council to discuss the ring get called? Just pulled some semi-important people out of a bunch of lands? Or just the ones floating around closest? And Legolas lived... where?

I think I'm generally all right with the hobbits after reading 'The Hobbit' and beginning of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' but I'm a little confused as to why evolution would give them leathery feet if really the only good trade they used to partake in was shoe-making. I know it fees them up to drink and eat and smoke, but really, if they were so good at shoes in the first place, I doubt it would have happened.

*How tall 'exactly' is Gimli supposed to be? I understand the Hobbits' sizes compared to men, But I'm having trouble with dwarves- In 'The Hobbit' I imagined them all roughly the same size, riding the same sized ponies... but in the movie Gimli seems about a foot taller than the Hobbits? I don't know! *confused!*

*Is there a pre-existing cultural rift of some sort between elves and dwarves? I was pretty convinced from the movies that the two groups didn't like each other so much as to hang out and trust each other (making Leg & Gim's friendship all the sweeter in my eyes) But I just wanted to be sure this wasn't something I was pulling out of thin air.

*Oh, and Strider... um, is that just a name he uses in certain circulstances, or frequently (so he doesn't have people eyeing and pointing at him in recognition or whatever)? Or is it something more? And what exactly is a Ranger? What do they do aside from look menacing in hooded cloaks in the corner of pubs?

OK... so those are the questions the first three paragraphs brought up. I really need help!!!! I'm still not really certain when and where the story takes place (and thus, not sure who's in it.) Right now Gimli, Aragorn, and Leg all have a few lines but none of the rest of the Fellowship has called out to me... so I'm thinking it's set somewhere during or after TTT. But I LOVE snow and so that's going to be more difficult than if I'd set it on the mountain pass in FotR... and I really have no idea what happens after the TTT movie (though I know the book itself goes on for a while yet) so I really can't do an 'after' sort of thing. Gah!! *pulls hair out* Ok... um... anyone have any answers? THANKS!!!!!!!!

Under House Arrest continued

Posted part, um, 16 I think. Yeppers. More sneezing *G* I'm so sorry James!!! heehee He's just too cute :-)

I've got it planned through part 17 right now... and I think I accidentally wrote the last paragraph(the story started with Lily and it will end with her)... but I really don't know what's going to go on between part 17 and the end... yikes. Ah well, they're cooperating, so I'm sure it will be something good when they offer it to me. Poor little laddies

Tracker

For some reason, the fact that Sci-Fi was showing 'Tracker' escaped my notice until this afternoon. So I got my hopes up, popped in a fresh tape, and prepared myself to jump into a series on eisode 9, having no idea what it was about.

And boy. Did I laugh hard! Oh, my poor babies! Not only was Adrian Paul (Highlander) lead but also executive producer of this thing. And to top it off, my handsome, cuddley vampire man Geraint Wyn Davis is the bad guy. Now, Geraint guest starred on a season 2 episode of Highlander... and they've had a number of other degrees of separation through syndicated shows like Adrian Paul's long ago series 'War of the Worlds' and even 'The Dead Zone' but this... oh my gosh. The poor sweet babies! What were these producers thinking?

Ok, I know what they were thinking. They were thinking 'Plot? Script? Why do we need those things when we can put Adrian Paul on the screen in nothing but briefs, tied to a bed? His female cult following won't care what comes out of his mouth as long as he says it with that sexy accent of his.' And you know what? They were right. *hangs head in shame* I'm considering buying the DVDs the moment they come out. LOL

It's a HORRIBLE show... with a conviluded plot and confusing irregularities. And it has a striking resemblance to 'Time Trax' with the exception of having an actual woman in the supporting role instead of a computer generated one. But it's my Adrian. And he's trying. By the Gods, he's trying. And it's no worse than things he did, uh, before he started to refine his acting. But it's no Highlander... and at times it tries to be (quasi-martial arts... the same cheesey lines written just to show off his sexy accent or make the girls giggle) *sigh* It's horrible, but I love it. ANd I hate that I love it, but I do. It's the men. And the details. I love shows you can't just jump into... and I must admit, it's great for laughs... especially the cartoon version of Adrian Paul on the Tracker website. *snort* I can't wait until next Friday. heehee!
