Woke up very stuffy- not so much sneezing as runny nose... stomach and head hurt, too, but I think that's because of little sleep. Went to bed at 8, woke up before noon... I've been VERY cold since last night. Grrr. I don't think I'm sick, but I feel bad enough to be.

And I just found out I have a meeting tomorrow morning at 8. WFT? Who in academia gets up before 8am in the summer??? *growl* Apparently me.

My boyfriend wants to go see that new "people get killed" movie... Wrong Turn, or something like that? I hate that kind of crap. One of his top 3 favorite movies is Halloween- and that stuff drives me NUTS. I honestly don't see the point. They're all similar and there's nothing exciting to get your brain working, just startling or violent killings. It's all just people getting killed and other people running then getting killed. Once in a while there's a decent side plot or a bit of character development in these things- but I've sat through some of the Halloween movies 3 times now- bored out of my freaking head. I had to watch Halloween Resurrection in theaters and then again when he got it on DVD (I just sneezed twice) The writing was so bad I was saying lines along with the actors the first time around (can we say predictable?)

BUT boyfriend likes this kind of crap (I prefer things like Identity, Silence of the Lambs, or the Ring which at LEAST make you think with little logic and perception puzzles, and at LEAST have some character development) and he asked Sunday. Interesting how it takes me 3 weeks to get him to see X2 with me, and 2 days for me to agree to see some POS with him. I'm being too nice, aren't I?
*sigh* The movie reviews look HORRIBLE for it, too.

*sigh* Well, at LEAST it's got an actor from Six Feet Under in it... albeit a character I HATE on the show *wants to punch Billy hard in the stomach* actually *wants to hire someone with actual muscle to punch Billy hard in the stomach* Yes, that's better.

Gonna sneeze again... damnit never mind, went away. heehee they always get shy when I announce

Maybe coffee. That will warm me up, right? Can't stop shivering this morning. Grrr. This should be a FUN movie experience, huh? LMAO

LOL

Still feel sick... not as bad... chills only every 5 minutes or so, as opposed to 5 seconds... course it's the middle of summer and I'm wearing 4 layers, that might have something to do with it...

Movie (Wrong Turn) was even worse than I'd expected it. Apparently, even FOX took their name/logo off the project- I don't blame them! It was HORRIBLE. ANd my boyfriend has made me sit through a lot of horrible things. But this... WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING??? The beginning introduces a tight-assed guy late for a job interview who can't wait 2 hours in a traffic jam, so winds up in the hills being chased by murders. BECAUSE he couldn't wait in a traffic jam!!! So already you don't like the main character- though I tried. He's a med student like my best friend... I really tried. Then he gets freaked out when he sees a dead body of a person he knew for 5 seconds. Some med student. Then everyone dies. And it's not a serial killer with a screwed up childhood. It's not a psycho trying to work out some sort of emotional or phsyical desire... it's just 3 mountain men(was one a woman? I couldn't even tell) who had been through genetic mutation or SOMETHING. The ONLY way you could remotely guess was to read the montage of newspaper clippings during the credits- which are so not important at the time that you miss some of them. Apparently, they just run around killing people. That's all. No reason. They just do it. WHAT???!!
What the heck must these people have gone through to make them want to go around killing people and stealing their sunglasses and teeth and stuff? Whatever it was, the movie didn't explain and drove away all ability to feel sympathy for these freaks... and I have VERY little sympathy for all the stupid people about to be killed. Who goes into someone's house to find a phone and starts going through their possessions instead?

UG... this movie was not only stupid and pointless, but confusing. There are random characters who are COMPLETELY confusing (like a guy at a gas station). And then there's a night scene where you couldn't even SEE what was going on. I realize they were going for realism and wanted it dark... but the problem with night scenes looking real is THE AUDIENCE HASN'T READ THE COOREGRAPHER'S NOTES. THE AUDIENCE CAN'T SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. I had to guess by the sounds as to where they were in the trees. Is that a character's arm? No.. it's a branch... no, it's a gun. What's going on? I can't see anything! LOL
GAH! Bad, bad, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad movie.

And they spent 10 million on it! 10 MILLION! Can you imagine how many people with real genetic defects that could have gone to help? Or how many meals it could have bought starving people? The ONLY thing that kept me sane by the end was to remember the poor out of work lighting or props or special effects people who though they would never get a job in this economy who got paid to work on this movie and could thus afford to bring food home for their hungry kids. I just have to remember that a lot of people were employed by this movie... some of them probably needed the money... I hope at least some of the 10 million went to them instead of to the person who thought up this POS.

What a terrible movie... PLUS, the title. Wrong Turn? There is NO reference to ever taking a wrong turn in this movie. HELL, the main character reads a MAP at one point. He leaves the highway to go on another road but knows exactly what road he's on. And they never take a wrong turn... they're just lost half the time. They never turn down one path just to find someone standing there to kill them. The freaks just run over to them and kill them. So, the place they are going (turning, if you will) is fine, just that these murderers are running around and find them. It's certainly not the people's fault they're there. So confusing. What the heck? What genius thought up that title?
