So as part of my vacation treat to myself, I decided to spend part of my vacation reading more than usual. I have a TON of books I've been needing & wanting to read. But I also borrowed a few books of gay male erotica from work to read over the break.

I read and enjoyed one written by Scott & Scott of Romentics(okay, so it didn't hurt that one of the main characters sneezed and that the two main men ended up in what I consider to be the most romantic setting in the world *happy sigh*). And so I thought I might try some of the ones we had at work. I'm reading one currently that's set in the mid-18th century in the colonies entitled Virginia Bedfellows. Now, I've read a LOT of fan-written slash but not a lot of published het romance, so I have little to compare it to. But this has got to be the WORST written book I've ever read in my entire life. But thanks to lots and lots of sex and some incredible hurt/comfort bonding between the boys that just makes me melt, I am of course eagerly finishing it.

But I thought you all might get a kick out of the, ah, "brilliant writing". It'll make you feel better about your own. Man, if this stuff can get published, why the hell can't I? LOL Keep in mind, this is taking place around 1750 in Virginia- (WARNING- sexual content!)

"Adam, I'm just curious. Did you like sucking Matt, even when you really didn't want to be doing it?"
Adam pulled Lance into a tight embrace. "Well," he said, "Matt did have the biggest cock I have ever seen, not that I've seen all that many. *facepalm* Seriously. I've never read anything so bad that wasn't an intentional badfic. And, yet, I'm nearly finished with the book. LOL So far, no three-ways yet, but my super slashy powers tell me it's only a matter of time...


EDIT: Whew! Just finished the book. Rest assured, Lance and Adam found a third to be with. And if not for the absolutely lovely hurt/comfort scenes I certainly would not have enjoyed it so much. I'm such a sucker for guy-on-guy h/c *EG* All right! Back to writing, tg! *cracks whip at self*
