tarotgal: (Fred the Bibliophiliac)
OMG yes. Another book sale. I was the 15th or so person in line... got there about 50 minutes before doors opened... yes, I'm a total geek and a half.

Books I bought today:
  • A Guide to Middle Earth by Robert Foster

  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JKR (UK paperback, will probably release through BookCrossing in honor of book 7's release)

  • Hockey: Learn to Play the Modern Way by Sports Illustrated/Jack Falla (I'm a sucker for hockey books, can you tell?)

  • On Writing the Short Story by Hallie Burnett (Oversized paperback, looks useful)

  • Pound Puppies: Public Nuisance by Korman (My very first fandom obsession was Pound Puppies. I haven't read this one yet)

  • Kingdom Hearts: Official Strategy Guide by Dan Birlew (OMG maybe I'll actually make it through the game now?!)

  • Verkilak by Hampton & Kneece (Graphic Novel- may keep or may read & BookCross... haven't decided yet, but it looks wonderful and has Vampires!)

  • Vampire: The Complete Guide to the World of the Undead by Manuela Dunn Mascetti (oohh so many pictures and lots of lore)

  • Star Wars Episode 1 by Patricia Wrede (Kids book, nummy nummy Jedi photos)

  • Star Wars Episode 2 by Patricia Wrede (Kids book, also nummy Jedi photos)

  • And my favorites of the bunch:
  • Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris (YES!!!!!! The only David Sedaris book I haven't read/don't own. I looked all over for Sedaris books- humor, nonfiction, biography, and found this one hiding in the fiction section. WHOOHOO!)

  • Star Wars Episode 1 by Terry Brooks (Hardcover. With gorgeous pic of Obi-Wan on the front cover and gorgeous pick of Qui-Gon on the back cover)

  • The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (Oversized paperback, but the original edition with illustrations and large type to match my set!)

  • Dinatopia by James Gurney (Hardcover, excellent/almost-perfect condition. I've wanted a copy of this book since I was a kid!!)

  • The Sunday Philosophy Club by Alexander McCall Smith (Unabridged Audio book, unopened, still shrink wrapped!)

  • The Hobbit by JRRT (Audio book- the set of 6 dramatized cassettes that my parents have... only this comes in a lovely wooden collector's box!)

  • The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (Oversized paperback. SQUEE! I LOVED this book when I got it out of the library. Now I have my very own copy!)

  • Gravitation Vol 1 by Murakami (Manga. SQUEEEEEE! I rescued this from the kids section- NOT something little kids need to read. But something I sure as heck wanted- was going to buy the whole series from Amazon... getting it for fifty cents is even better!)

  • Gravitation Vol 2 by Marakami (Manga. More SQUEEEEEEEEEE! Perfect condition, too. Wowzers)

So... that was $78. Which seems like a lot, but for 54 books, many of which are audio books, several of which were hardcovers, and a few of which I was probably going to buy at full price off Amazon.com (The Historian, Gravi, Holidays, and Dinatopia... which would have run me about $75 just for those 5 if you're going by cover price) I feel like I had a spectacular morning of book-buying! *does the math* $0.69 a book? On the first day? That's actually fantastic.

Plus some are gifts, many are for BookCrossing, and so many of the audio books I'll be listening to and then BookCrossing with anyway. So lots of these won't be staying on my overwhelmed shelves for long.
