All righty. Let's check in and see what's new in tg land:
Just came back from the dentist. Got two crowns over teeth that used to have fillings (the fillings are falling apart because, apparently, I just have one of those mouths. Lucky me). So the $2,300 today pretty much eliminated the possibility of a new computer for a while. Especially since I have two more dentist appointments coming up and NONE of them will be covered by my health coverage since I already maxed it out. Arg. Better back up my computer again right now!
Last Wed I went to the Capitals vs. Flames game with J and a bunch of co-workers. A whole third of our office was there! Which... amounts to 4 of us :-) The game was great- Ollie got his 300th win. Ovie got 2 goals. And we won in the end! I also love the Flames so it was neat seeing them in person.
The date went well on Friday. Much, much better than anticipated. Had a very good time and got home not too late.
Went to The Book Thing on Satuday with a bunch of BookCrossers. Came home with 85 books for... $0.00. The Book Thing is a nonprofit book depository that has shelves and shelves of books just sitting there for FREE. If it weren't all the way up in Baltimore, Maryland, I'd be there every weekend! As it is, I have no more floor room. I only came back with three of those 85 for me, too: 1 Angel: the series book I didn't have, 1 Anita Blake series book I didn't have, and 1 lovely hardcover Life & Times of Horatio Hornblower. SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm registering the books on BookCrossing (if anyone wants anything, let me know- user KateKintail) and I'm going to bring about 200 to a book festival next month where we're having a booth and giving away free books to people.
Speaking of BookCrossing, I got a catch today and one yesterday! Yay!!! *smiles*
Saturday & Sunday I participated in the Virtual Highlander Maxi-Gathering #10. I watched all the worst Highlander episodes and movies, in honor of the Source on DVD. The Source was a lot better the second time around, I've got to say. My thoughts/progress is on my other LiveJournal if you care about my Highlander geekiness.
Sunday I took a break from Highlander for an hour or so and went to the thrift store to buy more used books at their bag sale. Got 97 books for $10. Not as good as how I made out Sat but not too bad. Of course... no floor space now, just piles of books everywhere!
I bought a "Learn how to knit" kit at Michaels on my way home on Sat and am working on weaving/sewing the loose ends of the Gryfindor scarf in. It doesn't look too bad, but I'm planning to rip out the beginning because I got off to such a rocky start. Then I have to work on the ends and make it look like a scarf. And then I'll take pictures of the pretty :-)
I bought a few of John Barrowman's songs on iTunes this morning and listened to them (and one Ewan McGregor song I bought) all morning on repeat. John Barrowman singing songs from my favorite musicals is bliss. That made me VERY happy. Very very happy. I totally love that man. Want to marry him. You know, if he weren't gay and already married, I mean :-)
Having big ol' problems with the web server at work. But I spent 3 hours on it today and narrowed down the problem because I rock. Problem is, I don't have the password I need to fix it... and no one has any idea what the password it. Doh! Tomorrow I'll play around some more and see what I can do. But at least people can access the site now. Not the forum, but the site. That's a start.
Watching NCIS to free up DVR space right now... but I plan to start Doctor Who Season 2 tonight! I enjoyed Season 1 so much more than I thought I would. It definitely got better after the first few episodes *G*
