Awesome Week is Awesome!
Nov. 25th, 2009 10:30 pmThis week has totally rocked. Which is kind of funny because I kind of hate Thanksgiving with ever fibre of my being. But, hey, it gives me a chance to use my Thanksgiving lj icon. So, there's something.
Anyway, I get Thursday and Friday to hang out at home and sleep in and do whatever I want. I'm sooo excited about that. On Friday I plan to stay in my pajamas all day and finally do nothing but read manga and comics and graphic novels in bed all day long. So I'm looking forward to those days. On Saturday I was thinking of possibly taking a small road trip to Baltimore... but I might not. I haven't decided how bad traffic will be on Saturday.
But, on to the reasons my week has been awesome so far:
1- I saw New Moon on Monday with friends-- for free! Thanks to my friend's husband (have you seen Three Rivers? His job is what the Asian guy's job is) we had free tickets. I celebrated by buying $10 worth of drink & popcorn because I never, ever buy popcorn (expensive!). New Moon ROCKED in a "OMG this movie is awful but I love it" kind of way. I expected it to be horrible, and it was. I was either laughing or lusting (often both). It was nummy crack and I loved it the way you love an MST3K movie... with hot, shirtless werewolves. LOL
2- Yesterday I freed up more than 13% of my DVR by getting caught up on NCIS & other random shows. Feels good to have a little space now so I don't have to worry.
3- Today I won my 4th (out of 4) NaNoWriMo! That's right! At tonight's write-in I got past 50,000 words! So I'm officially a winner! Squee!!! It was great to do it with a friend & fellow writer nearby so we could celebrate. And she finished her storyboarding as well tonight, so we both had great, productive nights. Now all I need to do is fnish the novel story itself (it's somewhere between 2/3rds and 3/4ths done). I've never actually finished a novel completely during November, so I'm really going to try to do that this year. It's a huge challenge for me. I'm also really excited about two spin-off projects:
1- my main character's best friend, Leena, is going to get her own Markeroni account. I bought her a mascot tonight on eBay (as a reward for hitting 50,000). Then I get to go around double-snarfing things. heehee!
2- my main character, who has a My Little Pony, is going to put together a photo book of her My Little Pony posing in front of interesting things. So that will be fun to put together as well. I'm not going as far as driving all the way to Iowa just to take photos. But I might stage some photos so it corresponds with the trip in the novel. LOL

4- Today I got my free Team Edward and Team Jacob stickers from Burger King via Cafe Press. Don't know what to do with them but I love them much, especially the werewolf tattoo sticker. heehee
5- Thanks to my NaNoWriMo win tonight, I now have 34 out of 101 things done. That's a solid third. I feel like I'm a failure if I don't get all 101, but that's just because I have unrealistic standards. That's still 34 amazing things I am very proud of.

6- Jingle Spells 3 went on sale and I bought a copy! I cannot WAIT to get it in the mail! Squeeeeeeee! Jingle Spells 1 was the first WRock CD I ever bought and I listen to it and Volume 2 even when it's not Christmas, because some of the songs really are just that good.
I think that's it. That's totally enough, actually. Oh, as a bummer, I forgot to pre-order Angels & Demons and then the price went up $6. Doh! But *deep breath* I'm dealing.
Also, I don't think I'm going to do a Thanksgiving Tree this year. I have a beenie baby Gobbles the turkey I was going to put at the top. But I don't have that much else to put on the tree and, frankly, I don't like Thanksgiving anyway, so why should I celebrate it just because everyone else does?
It's not to say I'm not thankful for a BUNCH of stuff, because I totally am. I am thankful for so very much. But eating turkey and awkward/angry family dinners/screaming matches and memories of being violently ill are not three things I am thankful for, and those pretty much sum up 90% of every Thanksgiving in my history. But I AM thankful for things. And my wonderful, wonderful flist is one of those things! *huge hugs* I love you all! I hope all your Thanksgivings are wonderful and then some!
