Jan. 24th, 2012 01:24 amDay 6 List: Signed Books
All of the books (as far as I can recall) that I have signed by the author. Click each link for a photo!
And here are some of my favorites:

PS- I just realized I have a Charles deLint book somewhere, but no idea where it is. I've been through a bookcase and a half without success. Doesn't matter. It's here somewhere!
All of the books (as far as I can recall) that I have signed by the author. Click each link for a photo!
- The Dragon Who Lived Downstairs by Burr Tillstrom- I got this book before I could read and grew up assuming this was just someone who had scribbled a note on it. Took me a LONG time to realize that this was the signature of the book's artist!
- Time of the Witch by Mary Downing Hahn- My first ever author signing. I was bummed out that the Purple Crayon bookstore didn't have my favorite of hers, but my daddy bought me this one and she signed it so perfectly for me :-)
- The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall by Mary Downing Hahn- Ninteen years later, I met the author again and had a chance to thank her for inspiring me to write YA. She wrote SUCH a sweet note in my book!
- Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon- I saw her speak at the National Book Festival, but wasn't going to stand for hours on the chance of getting her to sign a book. Luckily, they had my favorite book of hers autographed in the book sale tent!
- Drawing Down the Moon by Charles Vess- This book hadn't even come out in stores and I had to pay in cash (for 2!) at FaerieCon, but it was worth it to get such a great collection of his work and see him draw this little elf (I think she looks like me)
- Little Princes by Conor Grennan- I missed almost all of his talk at the Fall for the Book festival, because I had other people I needed to see, but I made it to the signing. However, they ran out of books for sale by the time I got to the front of the line. I had him sign my copy to my sister (look how generous I was) and he signed a bookplate for me in a copy I ordered
- Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan- I saw her at the Fall for the Book festival and had her sign one to my mommy as well :-)
- and then there were three... by Supriya Bhatnagar- My boss! I scanned the photo that became the cover of her book.
- Those Left Behind by Joss Whedon, Will Conrad, and Laura Martin- cover artist Jo Chen was at my local Can't Stop the Serenity event, so I bought along my graphic novel and had her sign it
- The Stand by Stephen King- I won a Golden Ticket to get a book signed by Stephen King when he came to talk at the Fall for the Book festival! It was a lot of fun seeing him talk (he's got it down to an art).
- The Good Neighbors: Kin by Holly Black- I wish I'd thought to bring the other books of hers I had and have her sign those, but just this one is fine. She's a great person, even if she's a Slytherin ;-)
- Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris- I bought this at a used book sale last year. This is one of my favorites of his AND it's signed. Heck yeah!
- Dorothy of Oz by Roger S. Baum- I can't resist a Wizard of Oz story, especially one in the family. What a cute Toto stamp & note!
- The World of the Dark Crystal by Brian Froud- My first FaerieCon, I just happened to have a few of Froud's books on hand as he was signing on the first evening when no one was there. I didn't have to stand in the hours of lines that he saw the next day. Also, adorable illustration!
- Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Letters by Brian Froud & Ari Berk- As Brian was doing his awesome drawing at what was kind of a private signing just for me, he looked up and said "Oh, there's Ari. Would you like him to sign this too?" Um... YES! It was so nice of Brian to do that.
- Luncheon of the Boating Party by Susan Vreeland- She spoke at the first National Book Festival I ever attended (in fact, I think she was the first author I ever saw there) and afterward, I went to the book sale tent and found she had signed many of the copies for sale, so I snagged one
- A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham- I saw him speak at the first Fall for the Book Festival event I'd ever been to. I loved this book and was thrilled to be able to tell him so. He wrote such a nice note as well.
- Adam & Andy by James Asal- I love the webcomic, so I bought the book, and it came signed!
- Breaking Down by Stefan Petrucha and Rick Parker- At Book Expo America, Rick Parker signed it once to me (that's the top signature) and once to my other friend, Kate (bottom signature)
- Two World Order by Neil T. McCabe- I ran into him at Book Expo America and he was signing a book, so I had him sign one for me. I haven't read this yet.
- Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare & Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare- One is a hardcover, the other a paperback with a special short story. I wanted both! I'm so silly, but she didn't seem to mind (neither did the book store sponsoring the talk & signing)
- Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare- After driving to another state to see her read, I wanted my money's worth and needed her new book, of course
- Oh Hallowed Ground by Robert M. Poole- I saw him at a Fall for the Book event at my Tuesday library. Liked his talk so much, I bought the book
- Sleepers by Lorenzo Carcaterra- I found this at the Book Thing of Baltimore. I enjoyed the movie, so I hung onto the book; I hope to read it one day
- Earth in the Balance by Al Gore- I found this one at the Book Thing of Baltimore. I nearly BookCrossed with it, then realized it was signed and it swiftly became mine!
- A Wrinkle in Time & A Wind in the Door by Madeline L'Engle- They're not signed to me, obviously. I found these at the Book Thing of Baltimore, also, and wanted to keep them.
- Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice- I stood in like for about 5 hours as it snaked through the Crown Books bookstore. Luckily, one of my high school best friends was there to stand with me. She sat in a throne as she signed books.
- The Sock Fairy by Bobbie Hinman- I bought this adorable and wise book at the Gaithersburg Book Festival a few years ago. Now I know where my missing socks go.
- Sparks Fly High by Mary Quattlebaum- She was our keynote speaker at the 2011 BookCrossing Convention, so I bought three of her books and kept this one for myself
- The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry- She was the keynote speaker at the Boston Uncon. I didn't know I'd like her book, so I didn't buy it ahead of time and they didn't have copies there for sale. But L got her to sign a BookCrossing label that I'm putting in my own copy (the copy pictured is a BookCrossing copy)
- Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan- I felt bad that more Nerdfighters were falling over John to have him sign, so my second time through the signing line, I bought this book and had him sign it. I've since read it and liked it a lot :-)
- Looking for Alaska by John Green- This book cost me $100. I donated $100 to the Help Haiti Heal fund at the Harry Potter Alliance during a special give-away where John promised to send a free, signed book to everyone who donated. I figured it would be my only chance to get a signed book by him, and it also gave me a chance to win a set of HP books signed by JRK (AND it helped Haiti rebuild). I was overjoyed to get it in the mail and find it was my favorite John Green book! Totally worth it.
- Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan- This is my advanced reader copy of the book. So amazing to meet John in person and have both authors sign it!
- Paper Towns by John Green- After having him sign WGx2, I decided I'd go through the line again, buy the other JG books I didn't have, and have him sign those.
- Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, & Lauren Myracle- John said that he had to scratch out Maureen's name and if I ever get Maureen to sign it, she'll do the same to his *want* LMAO
- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green- This was the copy I bought at Borders on release day. It had a green J-scribble in it before the title page, but I had him sign it again in person and Hank drew me a very rare and beloved Hanklerfish!
