Things are a little better
Oct. 26th, 2013 05:40 pmI still can't eat much, but there have been about 15-20 hours over the past week altogether where my stomach hasn't hurt at all. Yay :-) I've got a stomach emptying test at the hospital on Halloween morning, so that'll be fun. Maybe it means I'll get to miss the office Halloween potluck where I stand around awkwardly, unable to eat or drink anything there. One of my coworkers just put in her resignation last week. We've lost so many employees this year, it's so sad.
Tomorrow's my region's NaNoWriMo kickoff party. It'll be nice seeing some familiar faces and talking with writers. Had a long conversation with the branch manager this morning about my Writers' Roundtable group. Neither of us want to see it die. We're going to try promoting it and making scaling back from twice a month to once a month. That might help attendance/participation. And it'll take less energy on my part.
I started decorating my house for Halloween. Not many of my neighbors have decorations up, so I'm not sure if there's a local HOA rule about it (there weren't many Christmas decorations either). There's one family across the courtyard from me that keeps collecting pumpkins on their stoop. They started with three little ones and now there are something like 15 pumpkins there now; they can barely get over the stair and into the door! LOL I put pumpkins on my stairs and I plan to put some decorations up on Halloween itself and then take them right back down again. Just some cute witches and ghosts. I've got some bats hanging from my light and I've got some owls up in my windows as well. I bought a lot of candy. I've never given away candy in this house before, so I don't want to be that person who runs out early and has to turn the light off and hide inside, pretending she's not home! heehee I got a new doormat as well (from BBC America) but I don't think I'll put it out until after Halloween just in case.
I've got some crafts to work on today, but I'm hoping to start writing again this weekend, or early next week. it's been a month since I last wrote and I'm sad about that. I just haven't had the energy. But once I get into the swing of things, I know it'll start snowballing. Plus there's a BBC Sherlock fic I want to try to write after I finsh the Befores & After's series.
I've been watching some scary movies lately. I do not watch horror. I hate horror movies overall. But sometimes it just seems like a good time to watch some. I just watched The Devil (2010) which was produced by M. Night Shyamalan (whose movies I almost always love, even when other people hate them). And two nights ago I watched The Raven (2012) with John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe (I had to look away during two scenes). And last week or so I watched The Awakening (2011) which was beautiful and slightly confusing for a moment, but overall very intense and lovely. Last night I finished watching the Cape TV series (I'd seen the first episode or so on TV but didn't record it/watch it then, so it was nice to finally do so). The one Halloween movie I ALWAYS watch is Practical Magic. I love that movie :-) I'm earreading Neil Gaiman's newest book, An Ocean at the End of the Lane, and it's suitably spooky as well. Good timing, fate, for letting my hold come in now after being on the waiting list for months!
I just got an email telling me Sons of Anarchy Season 5 is on Netflix. Drat. Now I have to decide if I should watch the whole series again from the beginning or just jump into Season 5. I love the show and really want an excuse to rewatch the early episodes, which were my favorite... but I really want to see what happens in Season 5! Also, as much as I'd love to see Charlie Hunnam naked on screen again, I'm very glad that he won't be in the 50 Shades of Grey movie after all as that means I definitely don't have to watch it.
But I AM going to see the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special with some of my best friends in 3D in movie theaters! That'll be a fun event, to be sure! Though I should really get caught up on DW before that date... yikes...
Okay. I'm off to change the a filter in my furnice room. Then I'm putting on some warm slippers and settling in to get some crafts finished tonight! Woot!
