Pride

I just watched Pride. All I knew about it going in was the basic story (a gay & lesbian group supporting the miners in the UK in the '80s) and how the DVD cover in the US was edited to omit the gay & lesbian banner from the front... which is freakin' hilarious because the title is pretty obvious in and of itself, even if the hope was to market it to a mainstream audience. I had no idea about the brilliant cast, so seeing both Bill Nighy and Andrew Scott was a great and pleasant surprise (Imelda Staunton was amazing as well), but the whole cast was spectacular. And the movie itself was EXACTLY perfect. Well done to everyone involved in it. Well done.

Okay, so I'm a wee bit biased, considering my Mom worked for union organizers and I was brought up to believe in fairness and equality and to help people who need it. I'm an unapologetic left wing Hufflepuff. And this movie spoke to my heart so strongly. I loved every bit of it. I cried, like, a dozen times throughout with happiness (and, okay, a moment or two of not so much happy when I may have shrieked or gasped). I love that this story was told, and the way it was told absolutely just stole my heart.

On a mostly unrelated note, I watched Geography Club for, like, the 8th time the other day. LOL And I'm marathoning Merlin again. Oh! Last night I watched Zodiac. OMG could there have been more amazing actors in that? What a cast! And I saw Whiplash in theaters on Wednesday. It was emotional and intense and made me quite glad that I was rubbish in band class. LOL

Tomorrow's going to be a terribly busy day. I'm going to be rushing from event to event without a second to spare or eat or stop. Everything's timed down to the second. I'm pretty nervous about that. But, if all goes well, I'll be volunteering in the morning at the library, then going to my first Ace meetup in DC, then back to VA for a 5-hour concert with some of my favorite WRockers from all over the east coast, including a friend I haven't seen in over a year. There's going to be a lot of Harry Potter music, Sherlock music, all-around geek music. Good times. Hope TWG plays his Merlin song... I've had it stuck in my head for three days now. Whoops, there it goes again...

I don't know... I just feel like answering questions. Anyone got any for me?

Here, I'll start you out:
Question: Where is my giftfic?
Answer: Almost done! I've finished 3 of the remaining 6. 2 others are in progress. I wanted to have this whole thing done in January... but now that's looking... unlikely.

Question: What color sheets are on your bed?
Answer: Green, right now. But tomorrow I will be switching them out for beige and red plaid.

Question: Why are you home on a Saturday night instead of out at dinner with the bands after the concert?
Answer: In all my running around today, I kind of forgot to drink. And I didn't eat much. At some point, my body rebelled and insisted I go straight home. Where I can be dizzy and bloated and in pain alone. Yay for living alone.

Question: How was your day?
Answer: Totally worth the ow I am feeling now. Except I bought so much. I have a new t-shirt now (oops), new slashy fanart (Harry/Draco), and new CDs and Jared TWG let me special order something from his Etsy store and he made it in the colors of the asexual flag for me, because he is awesome. I can't wait to put it up on my wall! And the music was SPECTACULAR even though 5 songs on my "cry list" were played (including the Jack/Ianto song I love). There was a great new fangirl song I'd never heard before and so many of my favorites were played along with new ones I hadn't heard--everything from Sherlock to muggle music to songs about bisexual Ginny Weasley. Good times. The Ace meetup was great as well, but I wish I could have spent more time there. It was just too busy a day.

Question: Pick an unfinished story at random and post a few sentences.
Answer: Um, that's not a question. But here you go anyway:
Though Qui-Gon’s tone was light, Obi-Wan was not swayed by it. He still looked just as nervous, and he shook his head, staring up into Qui-Gon’s eyes to show his earnestness. “It won’t be just a sneeze or two. It will be constant, strong, nonstop sneezing. I might not be able to say my part. I might not be able to do anything but…” his voice died away with shame and uncertainty.

“Sneeze,” Qui-Gon finished for him. Obi-Wan nodded in agreement, looking down at the floor. “I must admit I don’t like the sound of it, but it is too late to back out now so I will think of something.” He sighed. “I do wish you had picked a less awkward time to reveal this allergy of yours. You really should pay attention to the part of the ceremony that deals with honesty.” Obi-Wan blushed as Qui-Gon caressed his cheek to let him know he was not angry with him. “We will try to get through the ceremony quickly and when it comes to the candles… try to hold them closer to me than to you.” Obi-Wan nodded again.

Got a question for me? Ask away! I'm in the mood and feeling kind of ow still...
