The Hits Just Keep Coming
Dec. 21st, 2016 10:29 pmYesterday I was in a car accident. Nothing major. I'm fine. My car is fine. But it's just like SERIOUSLY, 2016, I have had ENOUGH OF YOU! CUT IT OUT!
I was stopped at a red light, waiting to turn right. I was there for maybe a minute or two and the cars were still coming from the left. And then I feel this bump from behind. At first, I couldn't figure out what it was and then I realized a car had come up behind me and hit me. Fantastic. I got out and the other driver got out--she couldn't have been more than 23. We looked at our cars, which seemed okay, except her license plate was all bent now to match the curve of my bumper. We began to exchange contact info and, as we were doing so, I heard sirens and a cop appeared on the other side of the street (residential street, only two lanes plus a turning lane). I heard someone say "Yeah, it's a crazy night. We've got this crash and now there's one right there." I looked over and realized there was an accident on that side of the street as well (I'd just thought the cars were parked there). So the cop came over and looked at ours first to make sure we were okay. He said as long as we exchanged info, it was fine (and that's what we were doing). Then he walked back to the other cars, literally 20 feet away.
But, yeah. I'm not hurt. Just more shaken than anything else. And annoyed. This was NOT my year. Not at all. And I'd like to say I'll be glad to see 2016 go, but I suspect 2017 is going to be much worse. My word of 2016 was KERPOW! I suspect my word of 2017 is just going to be SURVIVE.
