Harry Potter Party!
Dec. 9th, 2017 11:44 pmIt snowed! And it made my deck slick, so carrying a 40lb tree across it was loads of fun BOTH times I did it. But the snow didn't stick to the roads. So the party went on tonight as planned. Yay!
The Harry Potter party went wonderfully. The second game was a bit of a flop, unfortunately, but I didn't come up with the idea, so I'm not taking it personally. It just required a lot of setup and little game play time. There are some modifications we could have made to make it work better, like a box of props or a third team. But my Christmas crackers were a big hit! And people enjoyed having my tree and its ugly topper (I enjoyed having my tree up this year, even though that's the only time I'll be up. Because cats.
After the party, we organizers all exchanged gifts. I got some awesome things, including a large Marauder's Map canvas art piece. It's going to clash terribly with the color of the walls at work, but I might just hang it up there because apparently we're only allowed to put literary things up as decorations. heehee But I also got that Harry Potter: A Journey Through the History of Magic book, a 3-D puzzle of Diagon Alley, some excellent, handmade ornaments, and some special Snowbaz tea!!! (There's one tea for Simon and one for Baz. I have SO much good fandom tea right now, I wish I drank more tea! I really need to get into a routine of drinking tea more now that it's cold out, I think). Like one of my friends said tonight, "It's one of the BEST feelings when one of your friends starts shipping your OTP."
I had a headache all morning, and the normal stuff did nothing. I took one of my special migraine pills and it went away in an hour like magic. Gods, I love those pills so much! They do make me a little sleepy or REALLY dizzy sometimes. But I was okay after taking the one tonight. A little more tired than normal, but still okay to drive.
Tomorrow's the local BookCrossing group's party. That's always a wonderful time, though there's a really sad spot in my heart about it because I miss FURBALL. She was such a hoot at our winter party and I'm going to miss not having her at this one.
