Hi everybody :-)
Jun. 30th, 2022 08:09 pmI just logged in here to renew my paid account and couldn't remember the last time I posted. So much has been going on in my life I always felt the need to recap and the inability to do so. So I'm starting fresh. LOL
I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary at my new job. Hard to believe it has been a year already, but I lost the ability to know how time works. I'm still working 3 part-part time jobs at the same time, so I have precious little free time these days.
However, I've had a couple SF story ideas popping into my mind lately. So I might do some writing during July's Camp Nano. But I also really want to work on digital versions of my three Strokes books. So I might work on that as well or instead. And I have a TON of LEGO things I need to build before the month is halfway through. So we'll see.
Things about me right now:
- Currently obsessed with squishmallows 'cause HUGS!
- Just read 30 LGBTQ+ books during Pride month. SO many good ones--especially Loveless. Such great Ace/Aro rep!
- I helped host my church's first Pride celebration this month (we called it a celetest--celebration and protest together). It went really well, even though I was overheated and exhausted afterward
- I'm helping lead my church's annual study topic on gender this upcoming year, focusing on trans* and non-binary issues, pronouns, advocacy, etc. I made a whole merit badge-meets study guide for everyone to fill out as we go along. Should be a lot of fun and a lot of learning!
- All my jobs are going well, but I've been spending money on fun things after a year of not being able to buy anything fun (see above re: Squishmallows). I just bought myself two blank sticker books so I can organize my sticker collection.
- I'm behind on everything--shows, MCU movies, etc. But I did come across spectacularly sweet Our Flag Means Death fanart at a con that had a strong hurt/comfort vibe. I went home and binged 7 episodes then went back to the con the next day and bought the art. OFMD is so wonderful.
- I did go to a fannish con, though I still double-mask and quarantine/wipe down anything coming into my home. I drove there and ate in my car instead of in the building, so I was as safe as I could be. I did take my mask off once in the bathroom right after Wil Wheaton's session because I cried so hard during it I soaked my masks and had to put on two fresh new ones. It was a treat to get to see Sylvester McCoy, Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, Anthony Daniels, Wil Wheaton, and Sean Astin in person. But my favorite session was probably with Star Trek's gay space dads and former RENT stars Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz. They were a delight!
- I got to 2 full years of fake travelling from home to a different country every month. I think I might give myself a little break before resuming.
- Thanks to COVID tests and my continuing paranoia/over-abundance of caution(did I mention I still double-mask outside?), I got to spend some time in person with my parents for Mother's Day and Father's Day. Sister and brother-in-law and my newphewdog came for a visit last month, and I got to spend a day with them as well. Was so nice being with family in person, not just Zoom.
- My Charlie cat has an inflatable cone on right now because of a spot she keeps licking her fur off of. She's on steroids for another few days, and then I'll see how she is when the cone comes off.
That's about it that's on my mind at the moment. Hope you're all doing well and staying safe!
