Witch Hunter Robin

I just watched the first 8 episodes of Witch Hunter Robin today... I'd seen a few before, but I watched 'em back-to-back. I really like it, though I'm terribly confused about the differences between witches who have powers and people who have craft powers. Why're the former bad and the later good? I don't quite get that, even if it has to do with witches passing their powers down by generations.
Anyway, it's very beautiful- though not nearly as beautiful as Wolf's Rain or Weiss Kreuz Gluhen. But I impress easily and find some of its art styles and angles very interesting. I could watch Robin pick up her hair ribbon numerous times! :-) The dubbing is painful at times when it pauses with bad inflections... wish I'd seen the original with Yuuki Hiro as Michael (he did such a good job with Omi's computer genius ways, after all) But it's really interesting to watch this series knowing nearly all the English voice actors are going to be doing the voices for Wolf's Rain characters when it hits CN in April (Amon's voice actor is PERFECT for Tsume's voice). I really like Robin's voice- really fits her very well, but I really can't picture that voice with Cher. She sounds way too young. Gah... I hope they don't destroy WR when it hits CN...

Amon is wonderful. I love him. Dark and mysterious and strong and commanding and sensitive and the way he sneezes- DAMN he's gorgeous! Really, though, he's damn hot when he sneezes... episode 5... drool... I'm having very bad fantasies about that episode now *G* I'm sorry, but when they purposefully have a character sneeze just to show some h/c between two characters (and he carries his own handkerchief) I go a bit weak and very grateful LOL!
Michael- yeah, I love the dorky geek type. And the fact that he can never leave is a rather interesting character trait.
But Sakaki- DAMN but he's adorable! I just want to snuggle him every time he's on. I dunno why, that's just my reaction to him. Plus as the "newbie" I keep imagining him getting hurt a hell of a lot. LOL He's got a couple REALLY good hurting moments already in the series (two h/c moments with Robin which were so sweet) Yeah... he just screams out "I get hurt a lot and need some comforting" even if he happens to be a pretty tough cookie, too. Just compared to Amon... well, everyone looks a little weak. But I think Sakaki's my favorite character behind Robin and Amon. Followed by Michael *G*

Damn. Oh, and the girls are great, too. I actually really like Robin. She's a great character- weak and strong and very pensive. I like.
But Master(the guy who tends bar at Harry's) I'm sorry, but in the English dub version the guy CREEPS ME OUT! He sounds like a child molester!! All soft and creepy and I expect him to suddenly say "Would you like another cup of coffee, Robin? Or maybe we can go into the back room and you can pet my monkey, hmm?" Ew ew ew. I'm sorry, he talks WAY too softly and leadingly and I can't exactly describe it, but he just creeps me out big-time. Even when he's being all nice and giving her tea when she has a cold and all, he's just creepy to me. I REALLY hope in the Japanese version he's a better character.

*sigh* I want to go watch episode 5 again... gah... I'm sick. LOL But DAMN he's so cute with that little build-up and refusing Robin's tissue and oohhh I've already got a couple plot bunnies in my head about him. Which I don't need right now, LOL!

Ooh, I love Witch Hunter Robin! I've only seen the first DVD of it, though... Michael is one fine kid, though. Hiro Yuki pulls him off well.

They're bringing WR to Cartoon Network? That's so cool! I'll have to tune in for that!

Yeppers... I'm scared about what they're going to do to it, but it's starting on Cartoon Network on April 24th if I'm remembering correctly. I think it's just the first 26 episodes, though I'm not entirely certain.

I have a really hard time liking animes without having first seen the original versions... so this is sort of a new thing for me- liking it having only seen a relatively okay but not perfect dub. I'm definitely thinking of getting the DVD though. It's so nicely done... some of the angles and details really amaze me. And the lack of dialogue is very mysterious. So, the Harry's guy- is he as freaky in the original as he seems in the dub??

Oh ghod, yet another thing to add to my list. Even if I hadn't been thinking that the cover art on the DVDs looked pretty...Yuuki Hiro? WAI! He's my boy and I love him to death so I must see! I guess if HoA doesn't have any of the other things on my list this afternoon, I'm getting the first DVD or two. I'm not sure if it should beat Hellsing out on my list or not...Feh, if they have both, I'll get both.

And I'm scared of the WR dub. Because I tend to avoid dubs like the plague, the only voice that I've seen info for that was familiar was Crispin Freeman (he's in everything), and I'd seen some rather bad dubs with him before I stopped even trying to listen to dub tracks. (You should have heard the wailing when I realized he was voicing my Tsume! Yes *blush* my obsession with his hipbones has extended to the rest of the boy.)

I don't mind Crispin in this one... the nice thing about the WHR dub is that there's so little talking in the series compared to most animes I've seen, and the character of Amon is particularly the tall, dark, handsome, and silent type. There's been a couple times I cringed over the dub, but mostly it's good. I'm certain the original would be much better anyway, so go watch! LOL :-) Sorry, I'm normally the one being fanpushed on not the other way around :-)

I think Crispin would be great at Tsume (the character doesn't speak a heck of a lot, either) but of course it's highly possible that the whole thing will blow up very badly. I love all my wolfies... okay, probably I like Tsume the most... hard not to want to fondle him through that lovely ripped shirt heehee!

*moans at the thought of doing so* Oh hell yeah! I just finished the series this morning...or at least the first 26 episodes. I was in tears during parts of #26! And GHOD I want resolution! I hope Bandai starts putting the DVDs out soon after it premieres on CN!

Yeah... I have #27 downloaded... just not in a format I can view without downloading a separate player and more codecs. Wish I could find better versions. I'm hesitating to watch because I know there are massive character deaths and I don't really want to know who or why or how right now. I totally want resolution (I mean, the point of the whole darn series wasn't played out at the end to my satisfaction, unless I completely missed something) and the ending credit montage trying to wrap things up didn't do it for me. But I just don't think I could handle lots of sadness right now. I want to be in denial that my cute little wolfies live much longer and find paradise and are all frolicsome and happy :-)

I like frolicsome and happy wolfies. Easier to fondle. LOL!

But, yes, I was crying through most of part 26... especially where Hige was concerned. I always really liked him. And Kiba *sniffles* I really need to find time to rewatch before I go and ruin my good mood with the last bunch of episodes. So long as it's not as bad as the last episode of Weiss Kreuz Gluhen, I think I'll be able to handle the extra 4. *crosses fingers*

Hey! I have to admit that I've never seen the show, they don't have it on television here and I can't find the DVD ANYWHERE. But I've heard a lot about it and I really want to see that episode 5! Now that you mention the part where Amon sneezes. :> I think he sounds like the perfect type of character to write a fic about too, cause I love it when people write fics about those "dark and mysterious" guys. Anyway, hope you decide to start up a fic about him when you have time! Happy writing!

Oh, don't worry. I definitely will! :-)
I suppose if worst comes to worst, you can buy the DVD online... though I probably wouldn't unless you sat on the main site a while and was sure you liked the idea of the show, etc. I really enjoy it, I just get nervous telling people to buy things without seeing them first :-)

I wish I could find an online version of episode 5 I could make a clip out of. I have a version but it's a .MKV file which I can't play, let alone convert to an mpeg or avi or wmv file to make a clip *pout* The chief sneezes twice in episode 5, too. It's a very good episode *EG*

But, yes, I'll definitely be writing an Amon story. He's just TOO yummy a character to resist. And he's "dating" Robin's roommate which makes a perfect excuse to throw him into Robin's apartment to be taken care of when he has a cold *G* I can't pass up a story idea like that! :-)

That's great that you'll probably be writing a fic about him! I really can't resist stories like that, and the part about him 'dating' Robin's roomate as you say does seem like the perfect opportunity! Anyways, just wanted to say keep writing! Hope we get to read that fic soon cause your stories are really good! Some of the better ones I've read! Anyway, again, happy writing!
