tarotgalOkay, to me, what the author says is canon. I know official canon is just books, but I consider the author to be an expert and not take back big details after saying them. So I am SO happy when I get useful new information, because I can't stand inventing things just to find out they're not true later on in canon. So, without further rambling...
*does happy dance* Remus has a middle name!!!!!!!!!!!! *bounces* John! Okay, not very interesting, but thank goodness it wasn't James. Or Job. Bleh! I hate seeing that in stories. John!!!!!! Yay! Yay! REMUS HAS A MIDDLE NAME!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances* My Remy! Remus JOHN Lupin! Yay!!! *snuggles Remus* And he's a half blood! Which is nice. I've always hoped he wasn't purely muggle and just got magic from the bite... that doesn't seem right to me since the Hogwarts enrollment has to do with birth lists. Anyhoo... half-blood! Makes sense to me, considering his understanding, sympathetic, yet very-good-at-magic ways. Oh, and YAY! I've ALWAYS thought that the animagus forms weren't chosen but instead had to do with a person's nature. YAY! *sigh* I love knowing things! LOL
Bill is TWO years older than Charlie... which means he overlapped the Marauders by 2 years instead of just 1 (Damn, I need to go rewrite 3 stories now!) But that doesn't follow if Bill's only two years older than Perce, which goes against other book details... like the fact that Charlie would have been a 7th year when Harry was in 1st and that isn't right... so maybe I'll just hold off and stay in denial, yes? :-) And I want to see BOTH Snape's boggart AND patronus be werewolves *G*
Yeah, okay, so I danced when I found out Harry's full name and Albus' as well in OotP. I just... I like knowing things for sure!

JK Rowling replies -> No, you can't choose. You become the animal
that suits you best. Imagine the humiliation when you finally
transform after years of study and find that you most closely
resemble a warthog.

named after a constellation. Is this intentional? Does this have any
bearing on the plot?
JK Rowling replies -> It's just one of those family traditions,
although Narcissa breaks the trend. I had always thought of her
as 'Narcissa' so I decided not to change her to match the others when
I came up with their names. There's been a lot of speculation that
she is in some way linked to Lily and Petunia, because of the flower
theme, but I can put that rumour to rest here: she isn't related to
them.
Ernie: I wonder if you can let us know what form will Professor Snape's Boggart and Patronus take? I am very curious.
JK Rowling replies -> Well, I'm not going to tell you Ernie, but that's because it would give so much away. I wonder whether Ernie is your real name? (It was my grandfather's).
