HP fic trouble

The timeline sucks. Thanks SO very much JRK. Grrr! In 1993, the full moon was on the 28th, not the 24th or 25th as the book implies it is. Grrr. Plus, a week before Christmas would put it on the Sat of the Hogsmede trip which is great because Remus is sick and has an excuse not to be in the pub drinking with the rest of the faculty when the discussion of Sirius Black comes up. However, I wrote a "Remus teaches" portion and at that point in time, classes have ended for the term. So I've just screwed it all up. Bigtime.
I don't know what to do. It's so bad that I'm tempted to just chuck the whole thing out because NONE of it matches. At all. But at the same time, it's 30-something pages of a great story that just deviates from time/date a little. Grrr!
Okay, so what I think I'm going to have to do is change the date of the full moon from the book and from real life (which pains me incredibly but which no one else would probably notice or care about anyway) and set the story a day or two earlier than it should be and explain Remus' absence at the feast on Christmas by his still being sick and tired several days after his transformation.
Gah. I hope this doesn't annoy anyone else as much as it's annoying me at present. I'd like to say it's just because I'm so close to the problem, but I'm really just a stickler for this sort of thing. Maybe I'd feel better about it if I could at least match my story to the real full moon date. But I'm hopelessly off that way. Growl. Sucks this does. Growl. Silly story. *sigh*
