Final Words... and Dwarf Swearing

tarotgalAh, we reached the end of Book 3 tonight in the car. It's made boyfriend REALLY want to read book 4... I think he's going to buy it in CD off Amazon.com. heehee YAY! A converted Harry Potter fan! Even if he hates Snape (I mean, he HATES the guy) I'm still happy with my accomplishment :-) Er, perhaps the credit should be JKR's heehee. But he loves Sirius, and Remus, too, so YAY! Good taste he's got, eh? heehee!
Anyway... who knows anything about dwarf swearing? As I've not read the books, and I've studied elves much more than dwarves, I haven't picked up on anything... but I need an astonished sort of swear Gimli might use... something to the effect of 'Oh my God!' If anyone knows of something like this, lemmie know. If not, I'll use what I have now and invent it... but if something like this aleady exists, I'd MUCH rather use that. THANKS!

I'm estatic that you're so close to posting another sneezy Legolas fic! As always, I'm more than happy to help you with all things LOTR, especially if it might get your fic posted to us more quickly ;)
An exclamation that I commonly see said by Gimli (and occasionally other dwarves) in fanfics is 'Durin's Beard!' I'm not sure if he actually says this in the books, as I don't have time to reread the entire trilogy right now, but I'm pretty sure this expression covers everything from exasperation (equivalent to 'Oh, for God's sake!' or 'for crying out loud!') to amazement, which would be pretty close to 'oh my God', at least I think so. It would make sense, seeing how important Durin and his House were/are to the dwarves.

Just thought of another one..
Just thought of another thing Gimli might say in astonishment. 'By Aule!' is likely, considering Aule is the Vala (singular of 'Valar') responsible for creating the dwarven race.
Aule is the chief smith and master of all crafts, especially gems, gold, and stones. He's also husband to Yavanna, Giver of Fruits and lover to all things that grow in the earth, FYI. (I love this stuff! I'm really into mythology of all types!)
