I could really use a good fic or two to read right now to keep from bursting into tears every ten minutes. Anybody got anything good to rec? You know what I like fandom-wise. And snuggly boy-wise. I love those snuggly boys... Hell, I'll even take gen if you don't have slash! See how desperate I am?!

Anybody have a good link or two to share avec moi? Pleeeeease?????

EDIT: I don't think I have to say it but, um, no deathfics please. That's probably obvious, but, yeah. Fluff and sweetness preferred :-)

I'm SO sorry you've been having such a crappy day. *HUGS* I just got off work at 2am, and drove home thorough the blowing snow in a car where the driver's side lock is seemingly permanently frozen shut, and I haven't gotten to see my mail in a week because that lock is frozen too, so I can relate to that aspect of your suffering. And I live in terror of the dentist...actually still have yet to find a new one since settling down in a new town over a year and a half ago. *sheepish grin*

I have a really awesome Legolas fic I've been reading that I think you'd enjoy. I'm hesitant to rec it at the moment because of several reasons: 1. Not slash. 2. It's semi-angsty (but in a good h/c way, IMHO.)

It has to do with Legolas coming to terms with both the sea-longing and the fact that Arod is getting too old to be ridden like he used to. However, I promise that no elves, dwarves, men, or horses die in this fic, and it's happy in the end and has some just delightful Legolas H/C stuff that might be good for a distraction. Even if you don't read it now, I can't recommend it highly enough for a future read. It's called 'The Golden Bell of Greenleaf' and can be found here:

I'd love to discuss it with you, regardless of when you read it!

If you want some good canon Elf/dwarf slash with yummy H/C and borderline smut, there is, of course, that old standby that introduced me to the world of Legs/Gimli slash: 'When You Are With Me' by Nimue.

I'm sure you've read it before, but I never ever tire of rereading this one! It's pretty much the gold standard for this pairing, and interestingly, features a Legolas with silky black hair that I totally buy and find quite sexy *G*, though I still firmly believe he was blond like his father.

I've been slack in checking my journals lately and I've missed the latest news in your life! *hugs* I'm so sorry things suck for you at the moment. It's not right that all these bad things are happening all at once! My thoughts are with you and your family. And being agnostic, or something, I'm not really sure who I'm praying to, but I am praying (kind of?) for your granddad. *more hugs*

As for fic recs... I can only think of a gen fic that I'm reading atm:

To See A World Injured and alone, Legolas and Aragorn are forced to seek refuge in a wintry foreign land. But when darkness encroaches from within and without, they learn that refuge can become a deadly trap. Pre-LOTR. It's very sweet (but not noticeably so) and well written and fun and there's H/C galore :)

Also, a het rec (what's wrong with me?? A het rec and a gen rec and I can't come up with a slash rec?? lol) Galu Firion (Mortal Blessings) Arwen lies awake one early morning and while marveling at the beauty of her sleeping husband, reflects on life among mortals and life with Aragorn. Slightly bittersweet H/C :)

And, yeah. *HUGS*

It's not an on-line fic, but I saw this book in my local B. Dalton, and thought the idea of it would bring you a smile:
Tissue, Please!
by Lisa Kopelke (Illustrator)

It's a kid's book (ages 4-8) about a young frog with the sniffles who shares his malady with his dance class. Very droll illustrations, as well as a triumphant ending. if you have a bookstore nearby, you might want to go take a peek.
