Either squiggles or dashes (depends on my mood). But, yep, that's what I do! (See the picture in my last post, heehee) Also I think, partially, I'm embarrassed to hear sneezes in my head when I'm writing in public- afraid I'm going to blush or something. So it's not only my fear of someone seeing exactly what I'm writing. heehee I'm so thrilled you find it useful in practice :-)
