Yay! LotR Tapes found!
Mar. 19th, 2005 01:04 amMy mother is on this kick where she likes to reorganize and clean things that DON'T need to be reorganized. She put the old sewing machine in front of the hooks by the door so we can't hang our coats up there any more, for example. *rolls eyes*
ANYWAY, she cleaned out the hall closet (for us to put our coats in there instead, which is sooo inconvenient and makes the hooks look stupid hanging there in the wall) and found a box inside with old tapes and 45's. And in that box was... *drumroll* our old Lord of the Rings audio tapes!! My early childhood memories of LotR was watching "that scary cartoon movie where the guy's finger gets bitten off and that other one with the riddles and the dragon" and listening to the books on cassette tape. What I didn't know was that they came with read-along transcript books, with everything from musical keys to dialogue. Of course I was listening to them before I learned to read, so maybe that's why I didn't really care about the transcripts. LOL But I remember being in our old place in North Carolina (before the newer place in NC, and before Virginia), sick with the flu (which I got every Thanksgiving season like clockwork) lying on the old pull-out sofa in the living room, drinking ginger ale, and listening to The Hobbit for the first time.
So... yeah, now I'm all excited to pop in a tape or two and listen. We have the whole set of four books. It's an audio production, I think. I'm SURE it's abridged- it would have to be, it's only, like, 12 tapes altogether. But it'll be lots of fun to listen to them again *G*

Date: 2005-03-20 07:23 am (UTC)I still haven't had time to listen to the tapes... but I'm hoping tomorrow. Or maybe I'll take one in the car and listen to it instead of my 'Favorite Happy Songs CD#1' CD.
