Started listening to Fellowship in my car tape deck today. It's actually pretty good. So far I haven't been able to catch anything major cut out of the books and they're right up to the part where the farmer drops them off at the river crossing. The voices, however, are something else. Bilbo is perfect, Gandalf is pretty damn good, but Frodo sounds like a 40 year old man. That isn't TOO bad, but Samwise sounds like a 10 year old girl and Merry & Pippin aren't much better (Pippin sounds like a 20 year old woman). And The Old Gaffer sounds... Ohhhh my gods but I feel sorry for him! His voice is just SOOOO wrong! I look forward to hearing the rest of the fellowship... and Tom! Oohhh! That'll be great! Oh and the few elves thus far sound... like they're 2 inches tall and squeaky little sprites. I much prefer PJ's elves :-)

The trip to work and back took up a little more than one side of a tape, so pretty good timing! Went to the mall to buy some things and ended up getting nothing. Except envious of those who have Buffy & Angel on DVD already. I am determined to buy Angel Season 5 on DVD when I get money. Of course, QAF Season 4 comes first... but right after that is Angel.

I want desperately to buy Star Wars: Clone Wars... but it wasn't in stores today *pout* which leads me to believe it's not out until tomorrow (as is the routine with new DVD's, don't know why I wasted time on it today, grr!). And I'm not watching any of the new clone wars episodes this week until Saturday... so I can watch them all together at the same time... whoa... just realized I'm pet/house sitting this upcoming weekend... hrm... will have to manage something with the VCR taping to be sure to get the new series taped. *snuggles my great Knight Obi-Wan*

ANYWAY... tomorrow or the next day I shall go to Best Buy AGAIN and get Clone Wars. And I'm SERIOUSLY considering also getting The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Last Unicorn on DVD in their 2 for $15 deal.

I also wanted to get a picture frame for my mother for her birthday/mother's day because there was a great sale.. but none of them were properly priced and I forgot the shade of wood that I'd need to match the others. Growl. So my whole after work trip was a bust. Except for getting to hear the other side of the first Fellowship of the Rings audio tape.

Oh my gods. Cordy's hitting on Wesley. I mean, I knew they dated briefly, obviously, but seeing it's completely different than knowing. LOL!!!

tg -- Run, do not walk, to pick up MTM. It is simply a classic in the world of Muppet-ania. The launch of Muppet Babies, an amnesia storyline, singing, dancing, and a sneezing rat. What more could you want in one little DVD? Oh, yes, and it also has bonus bits from an interview with Jim Henson -- the film/fashion looks dated, but it's JH talking about his craft.

I only have Caper on tape, and would love to splurge for the DVD someday. There's a bit of trivia going on -- Christine Nelson, Jerry Nelson's daughter and the subject of part of one of my dissertation chapters (her mother, Jacqui Gordon, wrote _Give Me one Wish_, about Christine's cystic fibrosis), has a cameo as the girl who points to Kermit and says, "Look, Dad, it's a bear!" A completely bizarre line, but it did get Chris a walk-on, talking part in GMC. And Diana Rigg -- dang, is she good in that film! Not "Miss Thang" like Piggy, but close enough.

MTM has a few more bonus bits, little one or two minute things with Kermit, Piggy and Pepe the King Prawn, much more recent than the Henson interview. Very fun stuff. :D
