Blockbuster

FYI, Blockbuster was part of a class action lawsuit from 2002 and now has to give coupons to people. I don't know what happened, exactly, (something about charging rental fees for nonrentals or something) but we got 7 coupons for free rentals and $1 off rentals when we went to get a movie today. Was nice. Doesn't have anything to do with the membership program or anything. They're just required to give all their customers coupons. Just FYI to anyone who rents from Blockbuster (possibly you have to have been a member in 2002? I really don't know how it works but thought y'all should know).


I think I'm going to join Netflix, when I get paid. I love the Blockbuster program, I do. But the slection at my local Blockbuster just isn't that great where anime and tv shows are concerned. So I'm going to see how Netflix works out for me. I'm not so good at waiting, and I've heard of people having to wait months for a certain title. But I'd like to see if it works for me.

We had Netflix for awhile. But then we switched to using blockbuster.com, which offers the same service, but is cheaper. They have all the anime titles that Netflix has, and it lets you know how long it will take to get a certain title before you put it in your Queue. You put as many titles as you want in your Queue, put them in priority order (so that they know which ones to send first), and you can have three at a time. Then you just mail them back and they send you the next one in your Queue. I like it a lot.

Thank you for the lovely, informative advice! I'd considered doing this one since the programs are so similar, but I'd heard Netflix's selection was better. Looks about the same from what I can see though. And I definitely trust Blockbuster more since I've known them longer :-)

Here's a question for you... do you need to be a Blockbuster member first? If I wanted to take two out in store a month, I mean, do I need a card at my local Blockbuster as well or is it more of a pass/coupon-type dealy?

Is Blockbuster Online raising their prices by any chance? I see it's $15 a month, which is what the in-store version is also at the moment. But they're raising the cost of their in-store version to $20 starting August 16th so I figured they might be doing the same here... have you heard?

And... if you put movies at the top of your queue that won't be available for a while does it skip down to ones that are available or do you just get nothing for a while? *feels stupid asking this, as the answer's probably obvious*

I don't think you need to be a Blockbuster member first. The last time I remember my parents actually going into a Blockbuster store was when I was six years old.

I don't know about the price-raising thing. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

And if the movies at the top of your queue won't be available for a while, it skips down to the next ones available. :)
