Lessons learned today
Sep. 10th, 2005 11:23 pmLessons learned today:
1- My family will never learn to communicate. I just found out I'm flying to Iowa next week (instead of driving) and I'll have about 3 hours Saturay morning upon my return to get off the red eye flight, drive home from the airport (an hour), get changed, and go to boss' daughter's bat mitzvah (which is at least 40 minutes away). Boy. That'll be a riot.
Side note: I've been a bit worried about attending because out of over a hundred people there I'll know about 10 of them and I'm a wallflower and socializing with strangers scares the hell out of me (I'm not going to use the term social anxiety disorder but, yeah, scares the hell out of me it does). But after this weekend so far, I am suddenly VERY happy to have a second family to hang out with. You know you've had it with your family when 100 total strangers look more appealing...
2- When someone says "I just want to borrow your computer monitor for a few hours" they mean all day and you have to BEG them to get it back at all.
3- When my sister comes home from college I need to hide my things or she'll take them. Okay, yes, I know what it's like to be in college but my parents GAVE her money on a credit card account (I had to pull from my savings, mind) and she still goes through the house taking my hair gel and all my popcorn and who KNOWS what else? LMAO! It's like the house has become a supermarket. Seriously. It's a fantastic lesson to learn, though. I own so little at the moment and have, like, no money... I really need to just hide things in my storage unit when she comes to visit...
ADDITION: I don't feel like writing a whole other post for this, so I'm tacking it onto the bottom here. But I did manage to finish my R/S fic for the 132SF Mood Hot tonight. I wrote most of it out long-hand today between events since I didn't have a comp. I don't think it turned out too badly, all in all. Just thought I'd mention it since it's up and posted now.
