The story got rejected. Oh well. *shrugs* I'm totally okay with it, though.
She said she liked how it didn't deal with sex or cheating, but wasn't a storyline which was original enough, which I can totally understand. It's certainly not a new subject. And it's too long (even though it was 6 pages shorter than the max allowed) to devote to something not original enough. *shrug* She also suggested I ask my writing teachers (uh, who are they?) how to bring the story to the next level. Which makes me a little sad, but I never thought it was brilliant storywriting or claimed it was. So I can deal with that.
So, seriously, that's fine with me. It gave me an excuse to finally write this story which I've had planned out for so long :-) Perhaps I'd feel worse if I'd written this FOR the story submission instead of starting it and deciding it fit with their call for submissions. If I'd done that, I would have had a better chance at being accepted... but if I hadn't, I would have felt a hell of a lot worse for spending time on something so forced. So I'm happy with my decision in the end.
Ah well. I'll just have to be happy with my measley college lit & art journal publication for now. And my wealth of crappy unpublished fics I enjoy writing for no reason what-so-ever :-) Just wanted to keep you all aprised since I've been going on about the subject lately.
