tarotgalI had a DAMN good weekend, I've got to say.
I got many things done on my To Do List: http://listography.com/action/list?lid=8570201519
All of the crucial things were done, I made good progress on other things, and I should have all of it done in a few days if I keep working at this pace.
For the first time ever, I made a full batch of cookies. My family usually just does half the recipe. But I did the whole thing this time, which required 3 whole days. One day making the dough and putting it in the fridge overnight. One day of making half the cookies, and then doing the other half yesterday. Took about 10 hours in total. BUT I had cookies enough for presents, the gang at work, and the family. So yay. And I tried using pecans in batch #2 instead of walnuts and was amazed that the cookies taste just as good, if not better. Apparently, the original recepie 4 generations back was to use pecans but those were too expensive during the depression so walnuts were substituted thereafter. That change was scary and exciting. LOL
I got a box of DVDs I ordered in the mail containing seasons 2-7 of Buffy and seasons 1-4 of Angel. I've never had so many DVDs of one fandom before- let alone getting all of those at one time! Thank goodness one of the things I got done was to send in money to the nice people at VISA :-)
Apart from one tiny little present, I'm completely done with Christmas shopping. I gave out Chanukkah presents over the weekend. Got to go back to my old neighborhood and had a nice time with friends and neighbors. I looooove the new house and neighborhood but we lived there for more than 20 years and this will be my first Christmas away from that place since we moved to Virginia. Kinda sad, but nice to go back.
I also stopped by my old work (which is falling to pieces without me, honestly) and gave boss & family their gifts. Got to see the house and I nodded and smiled as the FOOLS showed me the granite countertops they're having put in, even after I told them granite requires waaaaaay more upkeep than they're going to want to do. Boss & family liked their presents. They gave me a present, too. An official, signed photo of Alexander Ovechkin. I just about died. Worth more money than my external harddrive, that. But it's GORGEOUS and it's so typically Alex and OMG I love looking at it and flipping it over to see the authenticity label and picture of him signing it and all. Soooo exciting. What a present!
Plus, the Capitals had an AMAZING win on Friday against the evil Thrashers. Fucking fanTASTIC win. Down 2 to 1 with 90 seconds to go. Thrashers got a delay of game penalty for sending the puck off. And then, with 30 seconds left, Vechy goes in and scores to tie the game! Then, 6 seconds into overtime, he steals the puck after we lose the faceoff at center ice and sends it right in the net for the sudden death win. INCREDIBLE!! And of course we won Sat's game, too. After a 6 game losing streak, it's so strange to get used to all this winning all of a sudden. but they're a great team I'm glad to see their hard work paying off instead of always getting so close and then losing by one.
Watched Survivor- was very happy. I love that foresome, and Yul's always been my favorite, though Ozzy and Nate were close seconds.
Oh, and my tree looks purdy. I'll post a picture soon. I got a snowflake tree topper at Target and a maroon with plaid trim (plaid!) tree skirt at Walmart. And I put up all my ornaments and some bulbs my parents took off the little trees and didn't want any more. It looks pretty. I'm proud of it.
The only downside of the weekend (apart from it being over *pouts*) is that we did another blood curve for Benji (my parents' cat who was recently diagnosed with Diabetes) and results were bad. He's on sooo much insulin and still his numbers barely change. Mom's very worried that something else is wrong with him. I dunno, but I feel horrible for the little guy.
And I almost forgot. My pathetic progress as far as giftfics:
