Strokesfic
Mar. 21st, 2007 01:06 amI've got some more Strokesfic for you. I didn't write it this week- I started it during NaNoWriMo and finished it last week. I was going to try to polish it this week, but then the writer's block hit. So... I lost interest in revising. It's not too bad, though.
And it's got a little sneezing scene, too.
Title: Toby
Rating: G
Summary: How they met Toby... and how that lead to their meeting someone else.
You can find it in the Beginnings series here:

This weekend I'll post 'Late Call' which I wrote ages ago, but which makes more sense after reading Toby ^^
So read this... and I'll get 'Late Call' posted soon. And THEN I'll be able to post Halloween and it will actually make sense to y'all. Er, assuming one day I'll finish Halloween.

Two edit-y type questions/issues:
You have Olly feeling his own lymph nodes here:
Olly reached up and felt his forehead for fever. Then his hand slid down, checking Olly’s lymph nodes.
And this line, I somehow don't think they actually lived in the club. *G*:
“Well you see, Toby and I used to live in Stokes.
Just thought you might want to know. Lemme know if you ever want me to stop pointing these out, 'cause I don't want to offend/irritate you or anything.

Date: 2007-03-22 01:38 am (UTC)And, yeah, Stokes, Maryland is the fictional town in which the stories are set. So their calling the club 'Strokes' was sort of a play on that. The name of the club is also supposed to evoke sexual imagery (stroking) but I thought the club's tagline 'Different strokes for different folks' was just too good to pass up. ANYWAY... 'Stokes' as a town name was suggested to me by someone here way back when I was just a story or two into the series. But I'm very glad I went with it because (as mentioned in 'Rumor Has It') we can pretend that the town was named after Harriet Stokes, who was a famous transgender bricklayer.
However, I live in fear of accidentally writing Stokes when I mean Strokes and vice-versa. So it was certainly possible that I might have made that very mistake in this story. I always appreciate how close you read my stories :-)
