This is what you call irony. I need a screwdriver in order to get into the compartment to install the batteries in my new sonic screwdriver.
;-)
And they talk about replacing batteries but now that they're in, I can't figure out how they're ever coming out again. So I guess I'll have to use it carefully. I can't afford to go all the way to Cardiff to recharge it. heehee It's my present for completing pervy_werewolf's Lusty Month of May. You'd think 31 days of stressful, quickly-written Remus smut would be reward enough... and it is. I'm just using that as the excuse to buy myself a sonic screwdriver. heehee *pets it* I never win the vote over there at the community, so it's nice to have something I can look at later to remind myself of my fun accomplishment. Plus, now I can get free money from the ATM and get into any door and stop plastic arms from attacking my friends. Cool.
On my way home I went to Target with a $20 gift card I got for my birthday. It was a strange fiasco. I went intending to buy:
1. A pack of DVR-RWs so I can transfer songs from my work computer or work laptop to my new computer
2. Prince Caspian soundtrack
What happened?
1. I saw that for just $4 more I could buy a pack of 50 DVD-Rs for the same price as 10 DVD-RWs. They were on sale for $13.99 down from $20
2. The soundtrack was $5 more expensive than at Amazon.com. So I'll buy it there, instead.
Then I took a trip over to the toy isle and resisted the urge to buy my own fighting fawn action ficture *fans self* but I went down to see if they had any Dragonology things left and they had a few of the figures and a bunch of the plushies. I also really liked the look of the little plastic elf series (almost bought one- MAN I would have died to have such neat toys as a kid). Anyway, they slashed the prices on them so I bought one as a present to someone who might be reading this *wink* and I bought myself a Frost Dragon plushie because I've wanted one for over a year now but never got the courage to say anything about it and it's sooo cute and the last one there and only $10 down from $20 or whatever they were. I dunno what I'll do with it... maybe put it up by my computer... but it's something I've wanted ever since I saw it existed and what better use for birthday money is there?
3. I went to see if there were any Harry Potter chocolate frogs. Nope. Not for a year or so. *sad*
4. I went to see if there were any cheep water guns (I send them over to the soldiers in Iraq to cool off and have fun with). Nope. I'll try Wal-mart.
5. On my way to the registers I saw the Fraggle Rock single DVD with the first four ever episodes on it. Realistically, I'll never afford to buy the whole series... and for $5.50, having four episodes of the show on tape while renting the others to relive my childhood is a good thing.
So I ended up with NOTHING I walked in there to get and almost $50 of stuff I never intended to buy. And then the DVD-RW's ended up being $20- they didn't ring up on sale. I didn't say anything because I was too busy telling the guy he rang up both the DVD and the DVD-Rs twice and my total was WAY too much because of that. So we got that straightened out. And I figure I just read the tag wrong on the shelves (maybe it was for Sony only? Or maybe the sale expired... I'm seriously not the kind of person to argue these things).
ANYWAY... now I suddenly have a dragon stuffed animal to hug and a Fraggle Rock DVD to watch.
Plus the Sonic Screwdriver came in the mail today. And Wednesday I got my first ever issue of Torchwood Magazine from my subscription. I was so worried I'd never see an issue- I ordered it back in February! A few days back I also got my Weasley Wizard Wheezes shirt I ordered on eBay- fits perfectly! I was tired of wearing the same two Harry Potter shirts to the meetups. And... well, that's enough excitement for one week of going broke, isn't it?
