Again, I haven't been posting. Sorry! Remember I'm on twitter: [livejournal.com profile] kintailtwitter
So let's see..............

* Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] tinadp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* I saw Dark Knight and loved it. Heath didn't look or sound like Heath, so I wasn't the least bit sad watching it, the way I thought I would be. It was beautiful and dark and brilliant and psychological. And the twists were obvious to anyone who knows anything about Batman (the geeks sitting next to me in the theater claimed to be real geeks but from their comments afterwards, I had to resist doing a facepalm). I got to the theater an hour early and was third in line. Plus I got a FREE popcorn because I'm on the rewards program. Squee! I never buy popcorn (always buy a drink) so that was a yummy surprise that made the experience even better. It was a great movie with great actors, but unlike most people, I don't want to go see it again in theaters. No burning desire to. I'll buy it the second it's out on DVD and watch it, sure, but I enjoyed it enough the first time around.

* Unlike Prince Caspian. I'm thinking of seeing that a third time tomorrow. I totally can't get enough of it and want more big screen Narnia love. There's a show at 7 right across the street from where I work. *rubs hands together eagerly*

* I finished a Fred/Harry/George watersports/golden showers story today. I also did a nice job with the Day 20 Neville fic I wrote. Not that anyone here really cares, but I'm writing. Really I am! heehee

* I finished watching Eureka last week and watched the first episode of Season 3 tonight! Yippee! I love being all caught up!

* Had the WORST time house/dog/cat sitting again, but it ended all right after a lot of rough patches and no sleep. I even took a day off of work last week just for me. I'm thinking of taking off a whole week in August just for me. I have about 130 vacation hours so technically it won't be too much of a waste to spend 40 on a relaxing, mental health week. I really want to drive cross country one day and will need a month to do all I have planned. But this will leave me with a little more than 2 weeks and considering I'll be spending money on a new car first (mine is dying slowly) I can't exactly save up for something that might never happen. So... yeah. I think a week off from work is just the thing.

* OH! I almost forgot! Harry Potter's Birthday Party was a HUGE success! I bought gorgeous HP napkins and plates and banners, and Gryffindor-colored streamers and plates and cups and the organizer brought tablecloths in house colors. I brought balls and cupcakes and a Potter pictionary game we didn't end up playing. We did, however, meet a lot of new members (and some favorite oldies but goodies). We played Quidditch- I started out as a beater and then tried Chaser. I freakin LOVED being a beater! But in the first 10 seconds, when I was running out to get a bludger, I fell right on my foot and bruised it so badly that I am still limping and I have to walk down stairs sideways. But how cool is it that I have a Quidditch Injury?! Squee! That's one difficult game to play, though. So many moving pieces, so much to keep track of. How do wizards manage it? We weren't even flying (just playing on a flat court). I can't even imagine 3-dimensional space. After two games, the quaffle (borrowed from my boss) went right into a huge patch of poison ivy (I scrubbed it down twice). We were also exhausted and overheated... and the grill was ready. We had tons of nummy foods- veggie burgers, regular burgers, hot dogs, steaks, chips, mac & cheese, fruit salad, veggies- oh my! We talked a lot about HP and other fun exploits. I had to excuse myself a few times from conversation since some people were a little too strongly opinionated in ways I don't agree with (and the Marader-bashing sucked) but otherwise it was a wonderful time. After eating, we played a dueling trivia game of kids versus adults (two teams of six each). The adults won but just barely and several rounds were draws. Then we lit candles and sang Happy Birthday to Harry! We ate cupcakes and ice wands and then cleaned up. It was a gorgeous park (minus the poison ivy and the mosquitos and the 90+ degree heat). Plenty of trees and a dwelling like Hagrid's hut that was only $70 to reserve for the party for the day (and with everyone chipping in, it was quite reasonable). What fun!!!

*Also, I've started reading Twilight. I'm up to chapter 17. Wasn't sure what I'd think at first- it's kind of pre-teeny... but considering the actor playing Edward... and vampires... I'm totally in love. It's not the best writing and it's a little repetitive in style, but I still really dig it the more I read. And then I have 3 more books and a movie to look forward to!

* AND Doctor Horrible is on Hulu now! I watched it again all at once today. I cann't WAIT for the soundtrack and the DVD. *wants* Of course, i also want Prison Break and The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother and Torchwood on DVD. MAN I'm never going to be able to afford a condo, am I? heehee
