Recap & Future Fun

tarotgalThe Board Meeting went pretty well on Friday. I didn't say anything stupid to the board of directors, so that's good :-)
And the AIDS Walk went really well today, too. No major hiccups and when I got there, all the team signs were neatly alphabetized and organized (except for H which we thought we didn't have and then found hiding under the Y's all along after turning away a bunch of H teams- eep!) I didn't get to see/hear Greg Louganis, but that's okay.
Tomorrow I'm going to the Zoo in a trip I've planned for the past 3 years. I want to leave a few animal books there in themed locations and I want to do it so I don't get arrested for leaving books there. LOL My family always drives to the zoo (except for one time back in third grade when my dad and I took the metro and then walked to an adoption agency party nearby and then sped home because that was the day we found out my sister was flying into NY and we had to go get her!). Anyhoo, parking for 3+ hours is $20. Bleh! Not bad when you're a family but when you're just one person, it's not worth that. So I might try the Metro, even though I'll have a bunch of books and it'll be a mile-long walk. The good news is that I'll be able to leave books at two more Metro stations (one of my local BookCrossers just proposed a challenge to hit all Metro stations- all 84 of them!) So... maybe I'll make it an adventure and try to take the Metro for a change. Since I'll be on my own, if I get hot/tired from all the walking, I can get a lemonade and sit down and take it easy any time.
Yes... think I've sufficiently talked myself into the Metro. Wonder if I should try to get there early in the day when it's still cool and not busy or if I should catch up on sleep and give myself another hour or two? Hmm.
I'm looking forward to my trip up to Philly this upcoming weekend for FaerieCon. I'll be on my own this year :-( but that means I can leave as early as I like and stop along the way to release books as needed. And I can listen to audio books and my happy John Barrowman and Wizard Rock music. I might connect with people from the Philly Harry Potter meetup group if they decide to go.
Kinda concerned about what I'm going to wear to one of the balls... I need something black & brown and nothing I own fits my idea of what a moth faerie should look like. And it's not like I have loads of time to go shopping... especially considering my zoo trip tomorrow.
Have I yet mentioned that on Wednesday I thought up exactly what I want to write for NaNoWriMo this year? It's totally brilliant. LOL I was thinking it would just be simple gay supernatural erotica... but now I have an actual plot. Though I might need some help brainstorming.
Apart from sex (heehee) what could you use a vampire for? i.e. what could the government, corporations, rich private citizens, etc. take advantage of a vampire's unique situation and make him do?
(i.e. retrieving things from environments with no oxygen, going on night missions, etc.)

Date: 2008-10-05 01:01 pm (UTC)Re vamps and uses: I've read a (very) few vamp stories, and they always seem to have the vamp be a nightclub owner/bouncer/dancer/bartender. So, my vote is, no nightclubs! Maybe something with history to it, since vamps also live forever unless they decide to step into the sun or they can "turn" mortal again (by killing their maker? I'm a bit fuzzy on that part.) Night librarian vamp=sex-ay? Undercover CIA cryptographer vamp? Deep-sea wreckage recovery/analyst vamp? No, wait, I've got it: bakery vamp! Works at Dunkin' Donuts and gets to the store by midnight to start making the morning's donuts. Never gets to see his customers, except perhaps in mid-winter when the sun won't rise before the morning rush.
