Four big things in my life just now:

1. Got several HUGE projects done at work this week including a totally new, password protected website and the conference schedule. Am very happy about my accomplishments there.

2. Doing the Muse Online Writers' Workshop this year. One workshop is "meh" and the other isn't the best with lessons but the exercises have been so much fun and my short story results have been great!

3. Harry Potter Halloween party tomorrow evening. Moony and Padfoot stuffed animals are dressed up in costume. I just finished a MWPP pumpkin that turned out all right, despite the fact that I have no artistic skills or carving ability.

4. Sugar (our deaf cat, the one we had the scare about a few weeks back) wasn't doing well last night. One second she was rolling around and meowing and the next she was skulking through my bedroom and hiding behind the washer/dryer. Mom took her to the vet this afternoon and they said they'd be surprised if she lived past Monday. A blood clot to the brain, possibly caused by the heart problem, they said. Her temp was 96 degrees (apparently, at 95 or below she'd pretty much be dead) so I spent a lot of time tonight with lukewarm heating pads trying to warm her up without shocking her system. All she wants to do is lie down in a little huddled clump of body and limbs. Doesn't respond when you pet her or meow like normal or anything. Won't touch food.

Anyway, I just went up to see her (about 4 hours since we put her in the spare bedroom- thank goodness sister & her now live-in boyfriend are away this weekend) and she jumped down off the bed and meowed and marked things and then jumped on my lap and washed her butt and kneaded for the longest time. I pet her and we snuggled and her ears are toasty warm. She's drinking the juice stuff the vets gave us to try and looks like she wants to eat food but all she does is lick at it a couple times and give up. But she pooped (so we know it's not constipation like last time) and she's perky and responsive now. *headshake* This is the third time the vets have told us she doesn't have more than a day or two to live... so I'm kind of in a state of half-terror and half-denial. I hope the vets turn out to be wrong this time, too.

At any rate, she seems happier tonight and I got in a lot of happy snuggle time and told her how much I love her. So if she dies overnight or tomorrow morning when I'm out, I'll have no regrets. But... gods, I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm glad she's home with us not at the vets at any rate. And when we moved the strings for the blinds to put them up, out of the way (don't want a strangled kitty) she saw the movement and totally raised a paw and tried to grab at them several times. Don't want to encourage that, but that energy/instinct was great to see. She's happy, and that's what matters most to me. But... MAN I wish she wouldn't keep doing this to us! I just want my little kitty to feel better and start annoying us again by knocking everything we own off every counter in the house! (She can't hear the noise that makes, but she knows it gets our attention!) She just needs to get better and stop scaring us like this. But I'm ready if... well, if she doesn't make it to Monday, as the vet estimated.
