Today I spent two hours of my life going on a quest for vegan marshmallows. There are apparently only 3 places in the state of VA that publicize that they sell vegan marshmallows. And, once there, I ended up buying another $40 worth of nummy organic foods I haven't seen elsewhere. Now that the marshmallows have been successfully acquired, I am worried they will not be good for roasting over an open fire. But I guess we'll see tomorrow because I'm going camping with the DADA group! Yep, it'll be a fun weekend of Harry Potter crafts and snacks and fangirl company and telling HP ghost stories (or reading the camping sections from the book) around the campfire. Very cool. We're staying in cabins, not tents, so it's not REALLY camping to me. But I guess anywhere without an indoor flush toilet is roughing it a little. And we had to compromise a little in order to get people to turn out for it. I don't really care in the end; it's all about having fun :-)
And last night I went to my first real comic group meetup (the movie outing and the Girls Only intro meetups sort of but don't really count). It went really well and I got to talk a lot to mysterious lad I have a huge crush on who may-or-may-not be engaged to the leader of the group. Long story, but... actually, that's all you need to know. Anyhoo, I haven't been reading many comics but today a bunch came in the mail today (FINALLY Torchwood #1--I got Torchwood #2 last week and haven't been able to read it because I didn't want to go out of order LOL).

Speaking of Torchwood... there's no Ianto-bashing allowed here. ZOMG on the MakeBelieve Yahoo Group there's this new chica who things that a mailing list means she has to reply to EVERY BLOODY MESSAGE POSTED (sometimes twice) EVEN WHEN SHE IS REPEATING HERSELF AND HAS HORRIBLE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT CHARACTERS. I'm so angry with her that I could reach into the screen and strangle her, I swear. She also thinks Ianto is this HUGE betrayer and Xander is the worst person in the world. I avoid Ianto and Xander-bashing because I love 'em both. So I really have NO idea what the arguements are for both of them being horrible slimeballs (though now I have a pretty good idea about Ianto, thanks to this chica). Still, I don't feel it. Moreover, I don't see it. No one is friggin perfect, especially when emotions are involved. One of the reasons I like characters like Ianto and Xander and Sirius and James Potter are that they sometimes do REALLY stupid things (because they're human) but deep down they ARE good guys to the core and there's no changing that. They're like this unmoveable forces of good. But they're not some angelic Mary Sue/Harry Stu characters either. They's good guys who make bad judgement calls sometimes. *shrug* I can relate.

Work is... getting tiring. I'm starting to think at times that maybe I've worked there too long and am becoming lazy. And something that turns a Hufflepuff lazy is bad news indeed. And I would like a job that pays enough so that I can buy my own house (doesn't help that I live in an area of the country with one of the highest costs of living). But I just can't imagine ANY job that's a better fit for me at the moment. And I do love my job. I'm just being lazy. For example, there's a board report due next week that I've only barely started writing. And I'm about 11 months behind in analyzing site statistics. So... that whole part is going to have to be re-thought. I wish we had a decent site stats package *sad sigh* But it's the same struggle with departments over content. The same content to put up, year after year. The same computer breaking down and needing to be fixed. There are differences--for example, I spent a few days working on a laptop liability document that I'm making all the employees sign saying if they brreak or lose their company laptop, they're responsible for the damages. And there are still plenty of projects I need to do that I get excited about. It's just... I dunno. Maybe it's just depression because the coworker I came in with just left for a high-paying job. Anyhoo... there's a war going on in the conference room at work on our whiteboard, mostly between my department and conference department over which of us are better. And in making their arguement, Conference made mistakes "publications has needs staff members" which makes NO sense was changed to "publications has more needs staff members". *facepalm* This is why you need editors and the publications department *EG* I love it.

Also, please note: just because I know a little about computers and work with them all day does NOT mean what I want to do when I get home at 8pm on a Friday night after a long week is troubleshoot your computer's hardware problems. I had to reinstall an operating system on a laptop (no kidding) 5 times in the last 2 days. I've had it with computers--and hardware is my weakest thing anyway. Also, if I had a dollar for all the time I've struggled with that DAMN computer's video card I would be living in a $2.5 mill mansion. LOL

Okay. My place is a MESS and I might have company over on Sunday after I go camping and this is just... horribly embarrassing. I need to get it down to just plain somewhat embarrassing. Preferably, only slightly embarrassing. :-)

Does the place smell like cat pee? If not, then it's clean enough for me. :)

Hope your weekend is relaxing. Sounds like you need it. Don't fret if you're too tired to do anything on Sunday. I'm flexible.
