Had a nice, relaxing day today, and a pretty good day yesterday, which amounts to a good weekend altogether.

The worst part was finding out last week that my friend's father passed away. The funeral was yesterday in Texas. He'd been sick a while, so it wasn't entirely unexpected. But it's still completely shitty. January is always a tough month for my family; we've had a lot of family members die in January (it's like they want to hang on through the holidays and see the new year before they die).

Apart from that, it's been a good weekend and especially a good day today. I slept in as late as I wanted today (ended up to be noon, so that's 9 hours of sleep) and then I stayed in bed until 1:30 reading the book I bought on Amazon last week that I can't stop reading. It's called Without Reservations and it's a paranormal gay werewolf romance novel. It's kind of addictive. And by "kind of" I mean that as soon as I opened the package and got the book out to read the first sentence or two, I realized I was standing there starting chapter 2 already. And, man, these werewolf men are constantly going at it. LOL There's just something I LOVE about being able to stay in bed on a lazy morning and reading a guilty pleasure novel. Totally makes for a happy all day long :-)

When I finally got up, I called the LEGO store and the new Diagon Alley set had come in. I headed over there, by way of a couple snarfs--one I'm pretty sure I'd gotten before but was still on my To Do map, and the other I had tried to snarf earlier but it had been taken down because they'd been doing construction on the road. The construction is done now and the sign back up. Victory!

I bought Diagon Alley and got a free Master Wu minifig promotional keychain (no clue what to do with it at the moment). I also spent about an hour filling up two boxes I got free last month with pick-a-brick blocks. I still have two more boxes to fill by March. Yay for free LEGO bricks! And I ended up buying that small Kingdoms set with the unicorn. I just couldn't resist the LEGO unicorn helmet for the horse. *hugs* Got a 10% discount for being a member of the local group (I just wish that the group met on Sundays instead of Saturdays!) and I had a $10 credit as a VIP member. So including the free bricks, I saved about $42 in total. Not too bad at all! I searched the collectible minifigures for another elf, but couldn't find one. Bummer. But I've got some awesome sets to play with. Fred & George Weasley FTW!

I also stopped by the dollar store and bought a bunch of candy for the HPA bags I'm making for the convention goodie bags. I also picked up a set of Harry Potter valentines because they come with stickers this year and OMG Harry Potter stickers always come in useful! On the way home, I filled up my tank because it's so cheap in that part of Northern VA, it's stupid not to (gas for just under $3 used to be high, now it's awesome).

Yesterday I registered a BUNCH of books. I still have about 300 in my car that I need to register this week. I'm hoping to get to my goal of 7,000 this week before the big BookCrossing weekend ahead of me next weekend.

And yesterday... I broke down and bought a ThinkGeek Tauntaun sleeping bag. Yeah. I've been wanting one for almost 2 years now and they had 'em for $30 off with coupon so... I took a deep breath and did it. I am now the geekiest and fangirliest that I have ever been. I've reached a new high (or low, depending on your view of fangirls).

I've been buying lots of things to make me happy this weekend. I have this... I dunno. Possible medical condition that I'm getting checked out on Friday (actually, the receptionist made me an appointment for 2 weeks away and then when I told her what was wrong she immediately said "Let me find you something sooner" which is not a great sign at all). I'm really not worried yet, though. When the problem arose, I freaked out for about a minute and after talking to the receptionist I cried a little, though I was at work. But apart from that, I'm not worrying. I'm really not. I only really worry about the little stuff. The big stuff... well, we'll see what it is and if it's bad, I'll just endure the treatments and we'll see what happens. And I'll just attempt to get all these LEGO sets played with in the meantime. I'll find out when I find out. And then I can deal if I need to. Until then, I'm just enjoying my weekend and taking it easy.

Hot cocoa and books and that new BBC show on Masterpiece Classic on PBS tonight... Downton Abbey looks great! I'm recording it. And I started the second season of the Sarah Jane Adventures yesterday- I've got a ways to go before I get caught up but yay for more Whoverse goodness! And the Caps won yesterday; it was a great game. Ovie finally scored again.

We got a light dusting of snow yesterday, which made everything look super pretty for a while. But it was gone by the evening. We're supposed to get a little more on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I have a discussion with my DADA group about the supplemental Harry Potter books (Beedle, Quidditch, and Beasts). Should be great, because I missed our first discussion about Beedle and am looking forward to hearing what people have to say about it.

So, yeah. That's my life right now.

Downton Abbey is wonderful, I absolutely loved it! Hope you enjoy it. (Though another of those shows that's by ITV not the BBC).
