The house situation never went anywhere. Or, more accurately, I signed all the papers to make an offer on the place, wrote a $3000 check, and then spent all of Sunday talking to loan agents and doing the math. No matter how I looked at it, I'd be forced to live on $300-$400 a month if I went with that house. It was $25,000 less than the amount I was pre-approved for, but still, apparently, out of my price range. I took off Monday morning to talk with my credit union and lost ALL confidence in their abilities; the guy didn't follow a word I was saying (I had to say the same thing 5 times before he remembered it) and even then he had to fill the paperwork out twice because he put the wrong interest rates down on a sheet and completely forgot things like the tax assessment/escrow and homeowner association dues. *sigh*

Anyway, I feel that it's better for me to find something that won't make me anxious or worried and will allow me to have a little bit saved, at least, for things like medical/vet/home emergencies. So even though I'm sad to see the most perfect property for me go... I know it's for the best.

On a happier note, I woke up Tuesday morning to find an owl had left me a invitation to Pottermore! The site was down all morning, but I got on to look through things a little during work and then for a quick afternoon break, I got sorted. My hand was actually shaking as I clicked on the next arrow. JKR has been firm that whatever house your sort into is the one you're stuck with--no changing! I identify as a Hufflepuff SO deeply and was really terrified I'd sort into something else. My love of knowledge and books makes me a find candidate for Ravenclaw. And the fact that I'm always stuck leading organizations/groups and taking charge when no one else will is kind of Gryffindor (but I'm a born follower). Truthfully, I've been worrying about the sorting for weeks, but I've been TERRIFIED since Monday morning. I decided to just break down and trust my heart. Besides, the Sorting Hat told me to not be afraid, so I took a deep breath and answered honestly. The questions were interesting ones, and only 7 in all. Some like "Choose between these two: the forest or the river" made me second guess myself. My instinct is to go forest, because I love woods and trees. But then I worried that it was supposed to mean the Forbidden Forest, and you'd have to be either really evil or really brave to go in there, and I'm neither! So I thought about the river, but the Slytherin common room is under water and the river carries you out to so many unknown waters. Not to mention I don't swim and I fear drowning. So I stopped second-guessing and went with forest. And the last question was the hardest: white or black? I changed my mind 5 times before I mentally scolded myself and went with my gut reaction there as well. I was so scared as the sorting hat thought, but it finally put me in... Hufflepuff! Oh, I am SO relieved! I LOVE the Hufflepuff welcome and all the new information about my common room (the ONLY one we never get to see in the books... apparently it's also the only common room with defensive measures in place. If you try to force entry, you get sprayed with vinegar! LMAO We protect our own, Hufflepuffs do.)

In other news, I'm going to New York for the weekend. Going to visit FAO Schwarz, the Harry Potter Exhibition (apparently they've added a few things since I saw it in Chicago), and Dan Radcliffe in "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying" on Broadway. I'm also hoping to get some serious snarfing done and [livejournal.com profile] melydia made me an epic snarf map today. I can't wait!

Now it's time for bed... and maybe reading some more "Hiding in Plain Sight" by Xanthe. I'm on a total NCIS & Stargate kick right now. I'm halfway through Stargate SG-1 Season 10 and I re-watched the first 5 episodes of Stargate Atlantis tonight. I have 5 different NCIS fics running through my head, including a WIP with lots of hurt/comfort. It was supposed to be a one-shot, but people begged for more. Then, after giving them more, they told me I still wasn't done. I estimate it will have about 5 chapters now, minimum. Right now it's up to three: http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/viewstory.php?sid=50227
It's Tony/Gibbs, PG, and nothing but h/c.
