Order of the Phoenix- no spoilers
Jun. 22nd, 2003 03:55 pmNo spoilers, I promise. I can't stand 'em. And I can't stand being taunted by them even if they're well hidden. I've gotten over 300 e-mails with spoilers since Thursday now to catch up on... as though I have the time.
ANYWAY, I just finished Order of the Phoenix. I made it to page 176 without crying... and I think Harry was back in school about 20 minutes before I started crying again. I spent the end of the books in tears, obviously. I am very sad, but I knew it would happen, and I'm not in denial or angry. Things have to happen to characters- even ones we love. Harry and his readers will just have to deal with it. I wasn't surprised, or shocked, or angry. Just sad. I grow to love HP characters the more I write fanfic... and it's sad to see one of my babies go. Still, the character was BRILLIANT in this book, and others, and there's always before to think about :-)
On another note, I LOVED the book. I think it's my favorite. Even if I did cry a lot, I laughed a HELL of a lot. At times, it felt like JKR was reading my mind. It's exactly how I would have portrayed Sirius... and Lupin... and Snape. There were some FANTASTIC Remus and Sirius moments that make my heart soar... plus TONS of possibility that the two were a couple and NOTHING to break that illusion, which I was worried about. But the "Marauder" moments meant SO much to me, as did Sirius and Snape interactions. The characterization of them all was EXACTLY how I think of them... right down to the last taunt and laugh and bookreading and joking and EVERYTHING. Oh my GODS I loved it! It was like, straight out of my head and onto the page. I loved the book especially for those moments, but the whole thing was really good. I really, really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get it on tape/CD now and listen to it a hundred times over in Jim Dale's telling.
Man... I'll probably cry for days... but I really enjoyed it, and I don't think it could have been better. At times I had to take a shower cuz I was so icked LOL But there were SO many good moments that QUICKLY topped my favorites list. Not to mention a LOVELY bit about a Quidditch player with a cold who sneezes when he's snitch-seeking *G* heehee But really, this was a fantastic book. It really was. Very uncharacteristic despite a "normal" school year(compared to book 4) and quidditch resuming... but still, a really good book.
