Craft: Care Bear ATC #1

In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, here’s an early craft post.

For this swap, each person posted the name of a favorite Care Bear and we had to make ATCs accordingly. Here’s the one I made of Good Luck Bear.

I made the background, carefully cut out the bear, and wrote the little rhyme myself:

As long as you
Are good and kind
This bear will bring
You luck, you’ll find!

For the other two Care Bear ATCs I made, stay tuned on next Thursday for my regularly-scheduled craft post.

Be careful. Every Irish person I know makes angry posts every. single. year. that the proper way to spell it is Saint Paddy's and that Patty's is absolutely unacceptable. Seriously, they act like it's the end of the friggin world.

Funny thing is, I thought of it while I was writing that weeks ago and googled and thought "No, I have it right" *facepalm* Can't do anything right. That's me! LOL Will fix.

I'm Irish. And I almost named Maxwell "Padraig" (before I realized none of the vets were going to be able to pronounce/spell it; I had a bit of a crush on this guy at the time... but my crush on these guys won out in the end) so you'd think I'd know by now. But, nope! Fail!

It's nice of you to be concerned for the vet's pronunciation woes. I think that's not something that crossed Bill's mind when he named Ryo-ohki. :)

Oh, and stupid question time: what's the connection between Velvet Goldmine and Maxwell? I really feel like I should know this.

Ah Care Bears! 80's love! I had two growing up, and I picked up a couple more off eBay years ago. Plus, I inherited my brothers' bears because I'm storing their old toys in my house's attic and if they don't specifically ask for them back (which I doubt because they're boys), I'm keeping them.

It hadn't even really registered that today was the 17th. Just got back to the US from St. Lucia a few days ago and my mind is kinda on vacation still. But today is my designated day for Eowyn-kitty's birthday so she's 11 today. I was lucky her vet recognized her name, and told me of a few Frodos and Pippins that he also takes care of. :)

It occurred to me after the third time in a week trying to spell/explain to the various vet staff how to pronounce it that I should just change it to Maxwell.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays Brian Slade (aka David Bowie), whose space age glam rock persona is named Maxwell Demon (aka Ziggy Stardust). That was Maxwell Demon Kitty's full name whenever he wanted to wake me up hours before my alarm or when he was chewing on plastic, etc. I used to play the soundtrack and sing along to it in the car whenever I took him to the vet and he always quieted down. I only had Birthday Bear when I was growing up and then a little figuring of Sleepy Time Bear. But one of my boyfriends in college bought me another stuffed animal (might have actually been Sleepy Time Bear, actually). I still have my Care Bears blanket in the linen closet, next to the Pound Puppy one :-) And, hey, if your brothers don't ask for them back you totally get to keep them! That's how it works, especially if you have room to store them!

When I get my downstairs set up, I'm putting my old Nintendo, My Little Ponies, Care Bears, and Pound Puppies all together in the same open cabinet downstairs as kind of a flashback station so I can get them out of boxes and love & appreciate them whenever I pass by or feel the need to play some classic Nintendo games. I just have to figure out how to work the power situation as there isn't an outlet anywhere near where I want the cabinet to be located.

Eowyn looks hard to pronounce on paper, but definitely enough people have seen the Lord of the Rings to get the reference. Happy birthday, Eowyn-kitty! Snuggle her for me :-) And speaking of birthdays, I've got a few little presents for you that I'm working on. But, as often happens, I am terribly late and not quite done yet. Gah. But they will be on their way to you as soon as possible!

His nickname when he was really bad was Sithcat, because he used to stretch up the wall and scratch at the corners/bottom of my Star Wars Episode 1 poster to get my attention. Most people suspected it was less to get my attention and more a commentary on the quality of that movie... but I make no apologies. Liam and Ewan were brilliant in it and other stuff happened, I'm sure, but I don't remember those parts.

But 95% of the time, he was a sweet, adorable, snuggling kitty who didn't deserve either of those names :-)

Did the Ep1 poster have Ewan and Liam on it? Because if so, there's really no excuse for scratching it, regardless of the movie's quality.

BTW, I just recently heard of a fan-edit called The Phantom Edit that reportedly improves the film quite a bit. I'll have to check it out.

My friend Patty (a woman) used to say that Patty is for a woman (Patricia) and Paddy is for a man. I guess it depends on what the original name you're using is, though.
