Going Back to Work & Weekend Recap
Nov. 30th, 2014 11:51 pmThe problem with getting a four and a half day weekend is that I don't really want to go back to work Monday morning. I spent three of those days in sweat pants/pajamas, marathoning YouTube videos about board games. It's tough to give that up. Also, I feel like I got very little accomplished. AND I chickened out about coming out to my family. I was given the perfect situation (i.e. sister's fiance wasn't there; I'm still nervous around him) and the PERFECT in during dinner... but I chickened out. Oh well. Maybe another time I'll feel braver.
So I'm making a list to remind myself of what I DID manage to do:
So, really, not too bad at all. I've got a lot of crafting and writing in store in December, not to mention NaNoNovel editing! *deep breath* Okay, December. I'm ready for you! Ten minutes until you're here...
So I'm making a list to remind myself of what I DID manage to do:
- Spent HUGE chunks of three days actually cleaning, including dealing with some things I've had sitting around a while and clearing off my desk again; it looks magnificent. Also, invented a cleaning game for myself that I'm really enjoying playing still. Because I'm weird like that.
- Dug my Christmas stuff out of my closet and hung my Nintendo wreath on the door... but didn't put the tree up.
- Went through all the boxes in my closet looking for my old yearbooks. I could only find 2 out of 12. But I DID find a necklace I thought I had lost and have been looking for for about 10 years. I may have cried a little.
- Got completely caught up in my daily journal/scrapbook
- Oh, yeah, FINISHED MY FIRST EVER NANOFANFIC!
- Posted about giftfics and got started writing two of them
- Got caught up in 101 Things posts
- Donated a toy at Toys for Tots
- Released a Thanksgiving BookCrossing book on Thanksgiving.
- Created a bunch of little things--ATCs, Hobbit cookbook, bookmarks, ornaments for swaps and mailed three packages out on time
- Filled up two huge bins with recycling. Threw away several things from my childhood that I adore but that were broken beyond repair and I needed to let go of.
- Did some online Christmas gift shopping... I'm just about done with presents except for the ones I want to handmake
- Bought a new GPS so that I don't have to keep wedging a tissue between the GPS and the power cable to get it to work and hoping that it doesn't dislodge when I go around a corner or hit a bump in the road.
- Helped Mom make some of Thanksgiving dinner--I don't cook and I mostly hate Thanksgiving food, so that was big for me. And hung out with my family for about 8 hours with no fights and no trips to the emergency room. Was lovely. They also helped me test drive a Harry Potter card game I created and want to play at the Harry Potter Yule party.
- Started planning games for the Harry Potter Yule party... which is in 6 days. Meep! So much I need to do for it! Also figured out my game plan for the meetups I'm hosting in 2015 and posted some of them.
- Finished reading two books and started a new one (that involves a sexy gay hockey player... I'm kind of thrilled.
- Did a few loads of laundry.
- Watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade for the first time in, like, 10 years. It has... changed a bit since last I saw it.
- Moved my aloe plant and grow light from living room to kitchen and put the lamp on a timer.
- Went grocery shopping and avoided every other store ever. LOL
So, really, not too bad at all. I've got a lot of crafting and writing in store in December, not to mention NaNoNovel editing! *deep breath* Okay, December. I'm ready for you! Ten minutes until you're here...
