I feel like answering questions
Jan. 31st, 2015 10:59 pmI don't know... I just feel like answering questions. Anyone got any for me?
Here, I'll start you out:
Question: Where is my giftfic?
Answer: Almost done! I've finished 3 of the remaining 6. 2 others are in progress. I wanted to have this whole thing done in January... but now that's looking... unlikely.
Question: What color sheets are on your bed?
Answer: Green, right now. But tomorrow I will be switching them out for beige and red plaid.
Question: Why are you home on a Saturday night instead of out at dinner with the bands after the concert?
Answer: In all my running around today, I kind of forgot to drink. And I didn't eat much. At some point, my body rebelled and insisted I go straight home. Where I can be dizzy and bloated and in pain alone. Yay for living alone.
Question: How was your day?
Answer: Totally worth the ow I am feeling now. Except I bought so much. I have a new t-shirt now (oops), new slashy fanart (Harry/Draco), and new CDs and Jared TWG let me special order something from his Etsy store and he made it in the colors of the asexual flag for me, because he is awesome. I can't wait to put it up on my wall! And the music was SPECTACULAR even though 5 songs on my "cry list" were played (including the Jack/Ianto song I love). There was a great new fangirl song I'd never heard before and so many of my favorites were played along with new ones I hadn't heard--everything from Sherlock to muggle music to songs about bisexual Ginny Weasley. Good times. The Ace meetup was great as well, but I wish I could have spent more time there. It was just too busy a day.
Question: Pick an unfinished story at random and post a few sentences.
Answer: Um, that's not a question. But here you go anyway:
Got a question for me? Ask away! I'm in the mood and feeling kind of ow still...

Answer: Um, that's not a question. But here you go anyway:
Though Qui-Gon’s tone was light, Obi-Wan was not swayed by it. He still looked just as nervous, and he shook his head, staring up into Qui-Gon’s eyes to show his earnestness. “It won’t be just a sneeze or two. It will be constant, strong, nonstop sneezing. I might not be able to say my part. I might not be able to do anything but…” his voice died away with shame and uncertainty.
“Sneeze,” Qui-Gon finished for him. Obi-Wan nodded in agreement, looking down at the floor. “I must admit I don’t like the sound of it, but it is too late to back out now so I will think of something.” He sighed. “I do wish you had picked a less awkward time to reveal this allergy of yours. You really should pay attention to the part of the ceremony that deals with honesty.” Obi-Wan blushed as Qui-Gon caressed his cheek to let him know he was not angry with him. “We will try to get through the ceremony quickly and when it comes to the candles… try to hold them closer to me than to you.” Obi-Wan nodded again.
Got a question for me? Ask away! I'm in the mood and feeling kind of ow still...

Date: 2015-02-01 11:30 am (UTC)How many spare rooms do you have in your house? If you had to fill them with housemates from fandom or RL (including celebrities and people who are now dead), who would you choose?
If there was a sudden banging on your door, and a whumped!Sam and Dean were there when you opened it, and they need emergency shelter for 48 hours and no-one could leave or enter your house - what do you have in your kitchen to feed them? Do you have first aid supplies? How would you keep them amused?
Will you forgive me for still not having written your fic? :O

Date: 2015-02-01 04:40 pm (UTC)It was nice to go with a friend as well, so I wasn't arriving alone to a group of strangers. Also, we had to navigate DC, and that's always best done with someone else, especially someone with a smartphone. And it was nice to share the experience with a friend I trust who understands me and feels similarly about things. So that made the experience ten times better. Always helps to bring your own support system! heehee
Seemed like a nice group of people. Casual atmosphere, no super crazy people or anything, which is always a risk when meeting a group of strangers. There were something like 25 of us, and I had to leave before getting to talk to everyone. But I did get to talk with about half and everyone seemed nice. Was nice to be able to meet people and talk about sexuality casually and honestly without having to define terms or expect anything from anyone in return. It was like we were all just interested in people, not looking for a hook-up or something like singles mixers feel like. It didn't feel any different from other meetups for interests (books, movies, geek culture) that I've been to, even though the thing that had brought us together was our sexual orientations.
I wish I could have stayed longer for some of the discussion questions. Maybe next time I won't have such a tightly scheduled day. Also, I'm hoping we might have a meetup or two in Virginia instead of Maryland or DC, so that will make it much easier to get to.
There was one person there who had just gotten a Supernatural show tattoo. And the guy originally sitting across from me had a Star Wars t-shirt. And the girl sitting one removed from me was wearing a Devils t-shirt. I told her I loved it but the Caps were my #1 team and the Devils were my #2. She said the Caps were her #3, after the Devils and then the Sharks were her #2. Which made me laugh, because the Sharks are my #3. So definitely good taste there. I don't think I've met anyone who liked my top 3 teams, though in a different order :-)
But, yeah, I would have liked to have been able to stay for the question/discussion section, because there are definitely questions I would have liked to have asked to learn more about their experiences and how they handle certain situations (like society's expectations). And I didn't go into detail much about my own orientation; I certainly didn't utter the word fetish.
But, yeah, it was good. I'd definitely go to another meetup, if they have one I can get to.

Date: 2015-02-01 04:56 pm (UTC)This is such a tough question; I feel like I don't know enough about many of them. So my answer is uninformed. But I guess I'd have to go with werewolf. Seems like the condition would only be a problem a few days a month, and the rest of the time I could do whatever I wanted. And I really like wolves in general, so I probably wouldn't hate being one, especially if I could take a wolfsbane potion and just curl up and sleep it off. But I also do like the pack mentality aspect--of being part of a close group of trusted people. There are a lot of aspects I could find appealing. Not the eating red meat and possibly hurting people, though. Maybe I should have said something like an elemental faerie? I do love nature...
How many spare rooms do you have in your house? If you had to fill them with housemates from fandom or RL (including celebrities and people who are now dead), who would you choose?
I have NO spare rooms! I do have a library downstairs with a futon couch in it, and it would be a nice place for a book-loving fandom person to hang out... maybe Giles? Or Remus? Or Sam?
I have a craft room/office, but there's barely space in there to walk, so it can't be a bedroom.
If there was a sudden banging on your door, and a whumped!Sam and Dean were there when you opened it, and they need emergency shelter for 48 hours and no-one could leave or enter your house - what do you have in your kitchen to feed them? Do you have first aid supplies? How would you keep them amused?
Haha! Your questions are all so awesome! Okay, yeah, I definitely wouldn't be able to feed them well, unless they were REALLY hurt and okay with eating fake!Jello and applesauce and rice. Guys eat A LOT. Actually, most people eat a lot more than I do. I've probably got enough to last us a weekend, but not real food. I don't even have pasta sauce for pasta (because my tummy can't handle milk or tomato sauce). So as long as they didn't mind vegetarian meals in the microwave, they'd be fine in my place for a weekend, food-wise. But I tend to think that Dean would have a problem with it. Especially the vegan meatloaf. Maybe I'd just give him some veggie dogs or veggie corn dogs and not tell him they were vegetarian?
As for first aid supplies, I think I'd be fine there. I've got a bit of salt, but probably not enough for every door and window. But I have 3 first aid kits and an entire bathroom medicine cabinet filled with band-aids, gauze, thermometers, antibacterial wipes, etc.
They would not be pleased with the lack of alcohol probably (I don't drink). But I have plenty of blankets and pillows and couches and the main floor of my house has couches, kitchen, and a bathroom, which makes it a good floor for any sort of recovery. PLUS I have crutches left over from my hip surgery and lots of ice packs and heating pads/packs. So that would help. I think I could manage for a weekend :-) Problem is, I wouldn't want them to leave after that *G* Sorry, boys, the injuries aren't healed yet. You're just going to have to stay... But I can walk to the supermarket and Walmart from my house (like a 3 minute walk) so shouldn't be a problem.
Will you forgive me for still not having written your fic? :O
I haven't finished all my giftfics yet either. So don't feel bad! My birthday isn't until April. You could make it a birthday fic instead. Don't feel any guilt on my behalf!!!! *hugs*

Date: 2015-02-02 06:12 am (UTC)2. How are you doing today?
3. This one is kind of boring, but -.Do you have the links to some of your old sneezy SPN memes-like the ones from (I think) 2012 and 2013?
4. What are a couple of your all-time favorite sneezy moments from a movie or tv show?

Date: 2015-02-02 10:28 am (UTC)Also that Winchester h/c question about coming to your house is awesome!
I have two spare rooms, and lots of frozen fish, chicken, and veggies (Sam would be happy but not Dean, because I use ground turkey instead of beef). However, embarrassingly little in the way of first aid supplies. Umm, some triple antibiotic ointment, naproxen, Tylenol, Generic Claritin , hydrocortisone cream, an ace bandage and a knee brace. Yep about it! Oh and some sore throat spray and lozenges and some pink Hello Kitty band aids. Ok this could be fun! Lol!

2. How are you doing today?
Better, except for having to go to work because we didn't have a snow day... I'd been hoping (I think that's where I went wrong). Yesterday my stomach was rotten and so today has been mostly recovery, which has gone all right so far.
3. This one is kind of boring, but -.Do you have the links to some of your old sneezy SPN memes-like the ones from (I think) 2012 and 2013?
Sure!
4. What are a couple of your all-time favorite sneezy moments from a movie or tv show?
Good question! Let me think about this one a little while!

Date: 2015-02-02 08:16 pm (UTC)Apparently, I wrote two pages of notes to myself about how I wanted that fic to go and then never actually wrote more than a few actual pages. I have SO DAMN MANY unfinished fics sitting on my computer. *sad panda* But I'd be happy to share the whole thing, such as it is, tonight.
And, well then, it sounds like between the two of us, we'd be able to take care of the boys all right :-)
Also, obviously, I'm ALL for covering them in adorable band-aids lately! heehee
PS- I finished your gift fic last Monday. I started it THREE DAMN TIMES and kept hating it (I kept doing PLOT, which you told me expressly NOT to do, but I kept doing it anyway and it was HORRIBLE and I should never have done it; don't know what I was thinking). Anyway, I think what I finally ended up with actually works (except I keep doing all these flashbacks... so I might have to put some time indicators to keep readers from going crazy). So as soon as I get Day 7's fic finished (it's at least half done) I should be able to start posting my 12 Fics series again! Thanks again for waiting!

Date: 2015-02-03 01:26 am (UTC)Years and years ago, I drew up a top ten favorites list. I am ashamed to say I don't even remember a few of them now. How terrible is that? So this is DEFINITELY not a comprehensive or well thought out list... but...
- Worf from Star Trek: TNG episode "Angel One"- love his strong sneezes, his completely helpless pre-sneeze face, and the banter between him and Geordi about getting sick
- Dean from Supernatural OF COURSE- because IT'S DEAN AND IT'S AMAZING
- Waking Ned Devine- the build-up, the look on his face, the handkerchief. Just guh
- Batman (the animated series)- I just love the idea of Batman with a cold. Hell, any superhero with a cold, really, but especially Batman. And I love him sniffling and pushing himself hard through a case... and Alfred fussing over him a little
- James in All Creatures Great and Small- Seriously, that first 12 minutes of the episode where James tries not to catch cold and then sneezes and sneezes and sneezes, sometimes in mid-sentence, and he's all wrapped up in a blanket with a mug in his hand. GUH that is my ideal
- Pepe & the Dog in the Loony Toons short "Odor of the Day" was SUCH a guilty pleasure for me when I was a kid. I love the colds and the drawn-out sneezes.
- Ben on Farscape- sooo wet and the way he rubs his nose is the best
- Daniel in Stargate- I like the movie a lot, but the TV show... better sneezes *G* and more of them. Awwww my sneezy, geeky boy. Yum
- Though, speaking of which, RDA in MacGyver was fantastic in the episode where he caught a cold.
- Reed in Star Trek Enterprise... is delightful when he's caught a cold and is all stuffy and sneezy
- Is it kind of terrible that I still really love some of the sneezes from this Sesame Street song?
OMG there are SO many others though. Invisible Man. Rodney in Stargate Atlantis. Taye on Kevin Hill. Booth on Bones. Ricky on Noah's Arc. Seriously, the list is endless. How in the world do I list just a couple? What are yours?no subject
Date: 2015-02-04 05:46 am (UTC)I've never seen Waking Ned Devine, but now it is definitely going on my to-do list...Never seen "All Creatures Great and Small" either, but I will have to look into that ep, because that whole scenario sounds amazing.
Love the Star Trek one too. And ohhh yes, Dean. My favorite ever!
I've been trying to come up with some of my favorites, and wow, it is harder than I thought! I'll post what I come up with shortly.
Also, thank you for the links. They were probably somewhere obvious on your page, but I suck at navigating.
