Purchasing Restraint...
Jul. 7th, 2003 05:35 pmI'm proud of myself. Managed to go out today and NOT spend money! Whoohoo!!!
I was very tempted, though... aaaaaand I think I'm going to go out tonight or tomorrow and pick up one of the things anyway. *G*
OK, so, I found the John William Waterhouse book in the art section of Barnes & Nobles today- I've been looking for it for, oh, probably 3 or 4 years now. He's my favorite FAVORITE artist of all time. Book is BEAUTIFUL... I could spend hours staring at the pictures and reading about them... but it's $50 and I'm not sure I want to buy a $50 distraction right now when I have so many other distrations going on. Still, oh my GOSH what a gorgeous book. (If anyone's read my 'Sirens' male sneezing story, it's based off one of his paintings)
Then I ran into the Trading Spaces book- which was $20, though I saw it at the walmart near my parents' place for $15... and my Walmart doesn't have it, so I was tempted. I REALLY want the book... think I might go and buy it anyway... or ask my parents to look for it for me...
OK, so THEN in Walmart I came across *GASP* A Legend of Zelda cartoon series tape which has on it the episode where Link fakes having a cold. Have have veeeeeery fuzzy memories of this episode from childhood- and for the price I think it's totally worth it to me to indulge and reminisce. So I think I'll go back tonight or tomorrow (depending on how many mental breakdowns I have tonight over my thesis work, and if I can drive after so much crying, etc.)
I'm leaning towards buying the Trading Spaces DVD also... I know, it's silly, but I'm SO in love with that show it's not even funny... might be nice to have on DVD (even though I've taped some of my favorites already) just so I'll haveit in a quality that will keep for a long time. So 50 years from now I can still watch people's houses being decorated LOL I'm weird.
