Kerpow Mix! Song Suggestions Needed!
Jan. 8th, 2016 08:14 pmThis year, my word of the year is going to be "Kerpow!"
melydia suggested it (among others) after I mentioned that "get off your butt and make things happen" wasn't exactly a word ;-) But I really like Kerpow! Makes me want to jump up and take action. I've already printed out a few "Kerpow!" graphics and put them on my walls at home and work.
I definitely needed something uplifting to keep me going this week, so I started working on a Kerpow playlist of motivational songs. Songs that say "you're awesome!" and "you can do it!" It's hard to find girl-power motivational songs that aren't about relationships or body image, I'm finding. And I want faster paced ones, too, because those get me moving in a Kerpow kind of way. I thought about Geronimo by Sheppard. I love the chorus but I think it's too relationshipy.
I'm looking for song suggestions, because the majority of music I listen to is fandom music, not mainstream.
So far, I have:
Fight Song by Rachel Platten
F**kin' Perfect by P!NK
Roar by Katy Perry
Great Big Storm by Nate Ruess
We Are the Night by Steve Grand
Proud by Heather Small
Raise Your Glass by P!NK
This is War by Ingrid Michaelson
Born This Way by Lady Gaga
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
Intend to buy to add to this list (once I have Amazon credit for them):
Best Day of My Life by American Authors
Brave by Sara Bareilles
So what song would you suggest I add to my upbeat, motivational KERPOW! Mix?
On an only slightly related note, it wasn't until the Winter Classic that I realized Nate Ruess had solo projects outside of FUN. Instabuy! Thank you, again, hockey! :-)

Riot, by Three Days Grace (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixZDTiXiHsc)
Uprising, by Muse (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTDwIN9oLvY)
Good luck! I'm sure you can accomplish a Kerpow kind of year!

Date: 2016-01-09 02:50 am (UTC)BT - Never Gonna Come Back Down
Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin Beats
DJ Tiesto - Clockwork Orange
Eiffle 65 - Move Your Body
T.M. Revolution - Invoke
Paul van Dyk - For an Angel
Give 'em a listen on YouTube, or I could make you a mix. But my feelings won't be hurt if none of them end up in your Kerpow mix. :)

Date: 2016-01-09 04:11 am (UTC)How about:
Titanium by David Guetta: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJiv4tePjvg
And
Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7xsVF_XTEs
Also at the risk of looking Very Much Not Cool, I also sing the following to get a 'Kerpow!' feeling (usually while my husband laughs at me), since I'm kind of a theatre/Disney geek:
Whistle A Happy Tune from The King and I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGS029Peq7k
I Can Go The Distance from Hercules: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aqpF-MwyUs
