Well, this week kind of sucked. I didn't do anything except for clean in preparation to have friends over for the weekend to marathon the Harry Potter movies. Also, I worried a lot about my Cassie kitty, who keeps pooping outside the litterbox. Still. I took Friday off to clean and had to put in two hours of work at home because my coworkers didn't get stuff to me when they were supposed to. Ugh.

I started the week crying over David Bowie (once I made it through denial; my favorite tribute thus far has been a graphic about Freddie Mercury welcoming David Bowie to perform together in heaven). And then there was Alan Rickman (such a loss for movies everywhere, but I will cherish every moment of every movie he's touched... though the TERRIBLE part of me keeps thinking naughty thoughts about him as Jamie, sneezing in Truly, Madly, Deeply). On Thursday, I came to work and found out that a well-known writer we had just interviewed for our magazine had passed away. And then on Friday I found out the co-organizer of my online writing group had a seizure and passed away suddenly. She's been an online friend for years, encouraging my writing and sharing hers, her goals, even photos of her writing space. I will certainly feel her loss in my life, and I feel for her husband and children.

On Saturday, I had members of my Harry Potter group over to watch the movies. I was curious to find out how my kitties would do around such a big group of strangers and both of them were OUTSTANDING. They immediately rubbed against guests, jumped on laps, or snuggled up next to people on the couch or floor. They were enraptured by people who were putting together LEGO sets or knitting (yarn!). They stayed with us the whole time. It was amazing. I was so worried they'd be nervous or Cassie would have tummy distress, but she pooped properly the whole weekend; I'm so proud of her. On Sunday I cried during HP movies 7 and 8 more than I usually do. Like, I completely lost it when Snape died. I hadn't expected that... but Alan.

During the weekend marathon, I managed to get a TON done: assembled a Ghostbusters LEGO set, made the Eeyore house in a jar I've wanted to make for about 5 years now, dug two and a half shoeboxes out of storage and organized all roughly 1,600-1,700 of them into small cases by subject, finished my 2015 artefact journal and started my 2016 one, put together a puzzle, finished knitting and putting fringe on the scarf for Remus (Moony) I started in 2007, and started work tagging book reviews in my book blog. All this while carrying on awesome conversations with fellow fans & friends and snacking on everything from popcorn to veggies to candy cane flavored soda and pumpkin pie flavored potato chips. It was a really nice weekend and a good way for us to remember an actor who had such a magical and lasting presence in these movies.

Today, I worked on three fics I'd had in progress a while. I finished two of them (both commissions). I also read a bunch of fic on the blue forum. More sexy dwarf fic? Yes! Contageon fic with gay hockey players? Hell yes! And I'm finishing up season 5 of Poirot. 5 seasons down... 8 to go! Yikes. I'm so in love with Poirot, though. He was my favorite detective when I was a child and watching & rewatching episodes now has been such a great experience so far. I also ran some errands (bought a ton of kitty litter, had to go to THREE post offices in order to mail out packages) and started post-party clean-up. It's been a great weekend. I just wish it hadn't come after such a shitty week.

Also, I can't get enough of this video. I recommend watching it at least 5 times with music on and laughing as hard as you need to.

Go you! One question, though:

dug two and a half shoeboxes out of storage and organized all roughly 1,600-1,700 of them into small cases by subject

1,600 what? LEGO bricks? Shoes? Books? ;)
