I'm just going to preface this by saying I'm a liberal democrat. I'm totally a socialist at heart and I'm as liberal as they get. And I vote every chance I get--have done since I was 18. And today is Super Tuesday.
Everyone laughed at me when I was worried about Trump running, and now it looks like we might be stuck with him. This absolutely sickens me. And so today I did something I thought I would never do: I voted Republican. Honestly, I've watched 6 debates (including a non-televised one on the internet) and I'm still torn between Hillary and Bernie. I like them both. Clinton's got great experience and Sanders says the things I want to hear (the things that match my bumper sticker). I would honestly vote for either of them. And though one might have a slightly better shot at winning the general election, that shot wasn't significant enough to me. I would vote for either of them... but I couldn't live with myself if Trump got elected and I hadn't done what I could to stop him. So I walked into the polling place this morning and clearly stated that I wanted the republican ballot, even though the woman's hand was on the democrat card, already picking it up, even though it makes me uncomfortable to vote for any of those guys. Still, I went in, and I voted for Rubio. Yes I did.
Turns out, my state is going Trump but my county went Rubio! So, really, I did what I could to vote for Not Trump. I did my part. And I feel marvelous and proud about that. Even if it was a really weird sensation to ask for the Republican form.
