tarotgal: (Hawkeye-looking over his shoulder)

Went to AwesomeCon yesterday. Packed AS MUCH AWESOME into the day as possible with purchases, seeing John Barrowman, Summer Glau, and Matthew Lewis as well as attending a panel about LGBT chararacters in sci-fi/fantasy and another on characters with disabilities in comics. Also ran into three friends (two of which bought the exact same Supernatural art pieces I did, which happened to have been done by my LEGO friend Alan's friend! From this random sampling, I'm guessing she did very well at the show). I need to write a whole blog post about this, but I'm exhausted still. LOL

Here's my day today (minus the headache):
1. Hornblower and the Atropos comes in during the Sunday morning bookdrop at the library. I sit on the floor in the book drop closet and read the several pages of him sneezing from the worst cold he'd ever had. Guh. Love that bit so much. Thank you, Forester, for your words.

2. My "songs about books/poems" CD got played near the end of my shift but I still got to sing along to a Mudbloods song about Sirius Black and Sarah Donner's song about Javier's death in Les Mis. Kind of an effing amazing feeling to be walking around a deserted library singing along to fannish songs.

3. Went to a book sale to stock up for books for next year's April & May give-aways ALREADY. Got a huge bag of kids books and then, on the way out, passed history and picked up a copy of the US Constitution and a copy of the Federalist Papers. Is it weird that I now squee over the Federalist Papers? Yeah. It's weird. But that's what I did. SQUEE! The Federalist Papers! *finds a way to fit it in the bag sale bag*

4. Parents came over briefly to hang shelves in my LEGO loft, but dad got too tired so we just marked the studs on the wall and will do the drilling some other time. I showed them my new Hawkeye poster... they were unimpressed. "I don't know who that is," says my mom. "It's HAWKEYE! He's an avenger! You know him!" "Um, okay?"

5. #FinPoe is the best: http://pearwaldorf.tumblr.com/post/136141510480/i-look-into-your-eyes-and-the-skys-the-limit

6. I seriously spent about 3 hours this afternoon/evening watching & rewatching ham4ham videos and watching various cast interviews. Yesterday I was really bummed about LMM not doing Hamilton after July 9. Which means I'll never get to see him in the role. But the fact that he's going to be in the Mary Poppins remake AND he's doing lyrics for a Disney animated movie (and wrote music for The Rock) is pretty amazing. And, honestly, I'm okay with much of the original cast production of Hamilton existing only in my mind. And in LEGO. I just spent an insane amount of money buying enough Revolutionary War torsos and heads of various skin tones so that I can make a LEGO MOC of "The Story of Tonight." And possibly another of "Non-stop." I thought of making one of the duel as well... as that's something everyone knows about Hamilton. Depends if I can get away with Burr with a slight moustache. There are SO FEW black LEGO heads that don't look angry or worried. It's very strange. I also ordered a DUPLO lion for a Chronicles of Narnia MOC and a cute little dog that's perfect for Arrow/Pizza Dog in a Fraction-inspired Hawkeye MOC. I bought a Friends archery set that has a PURPLE target! So perfect! I'm also thinking of doing a couple SPN MOCs. I'm also really hoping this will be the year I do my Romanian Dragon Reserve Charlie Weasley MOC. I really should have gone to the LEGO store today, because today was a special day and there's a set I really want. But I was feeling like crap and just couldn't go back out again. And the trip to the store and back would have taken at least 3 hours. I just couldn't. Instead I watched all the YouTube and got rid of my headache. I think I made an acceptable call there, though I'll probably regret it one day.

7. I have two swaps due Tuesday that I should be working on right now. But I just don't have the energy. So I'm writing this instead.

Hello, I came across your journal through a mutual friend and wondered if you would like to be friends? We have several things in common!

While I definitely agree with the sentiment, it also offered a tantalizing canon moment for the miniseries to use that never came to fruition. It makes me smile, but there's always a bit of "what might have been" lurking in there for me.

Glad you had two pretty good days, though!
