Working it out through fiction
Jun. 16th, 2016 10:10 pmSo... one of the ways I work through things is with my characters. I've been trying to write this story out for days now. Bits keep coming to me at random times, and sometimes I felt too emotional to write any of it down. But today I took all the scrap paper notes and bits and managed to get my thoughts about the shooting in Orlando down by way of my characters: http://strokes.kintailscape.com/stories/StrokesStory-AfterOrlando.html
It's been emotional for me, having just attended my first pride parade the day before. It was such a horrible feeling to be so happy and excited and then be so devistated and shocked and saddened.
I'm planning to attend a vigil tomorrow evening. I've been a little scared about going, in case it gets targeted or something horrible like that. But I really need to just take Sweetie's advice and be brave more often. I think it'll be good for me to go for a whole lot of reasons. Mostly, I just want to do what I can to honor and acknowledge the victims and show my love and support.
