My Poor Computer

My laptop has been dying a slow death for about a year now. The fan finally stopped working this week and I took it into the OOOF! (Charlie just stepped on my stomach--WH?Y! That's where the incisions were!!!!!) Anyway, I took it to the store today. The repair service opened at 9, so I was there at 9:04. I paid $40 (that's what it said the fan was on the website). But apparently no one was there to actually look at my computer until "maybe 10 or 10:30." So I left my number so they could call me when they wanted me there. Then I waited around in the area for a few hours. At 11, I had to head home. I went to see Fantastic Beasts and, afterward, there was still no phone call! So I called them. They called back about 15 minutes later and said the fan was fine. I told them to look again. They said they wouldn't be able to work on it because it was usual for someone to be there in person. I asked if they wanted me there in person and they said no. THESE PEOPLE MAKE NO SENSE! At 6:30, I got a call saying it was the fan and that it would be $105. I assume that's in ADDITION to the $40 I've already paid to find out that it was exactly what I'd insisted it was. UGH. Money sucks. But I don't have $1000 to drop on a new laptop at the moment, so I'm going to get the fan replaced and see if I can't make the laptop last a few more years. But, man, this was a lot more expensive than I'd thought. If it weren't a laptop, I'd do it myself. But laptops are so tricky because everything's so compact in there and I'm scared I'll do something wrong. But they have to order the part, so it's going to be another WEEK before I get my computer back! AHH! I don't know if I can last without my computer that long!! *panic*

Having some trouble adulting lately. I keep trying, and it's not going well. I noticed today that the slate outside my back gate is cracked. Suppose I'll need to replace that too.

This is a stressful week. In the span of 7 days, I've got 4 holiday parties, two of which I'm hosting. And I'm NOT ready yet for the one tomorrow!

Just FWI, unless you're into the latest games, $1000 is way too much to spend on a laptop. Shop around online, you can find a decent one for $300.

What I want is a 2TB hard drive, which is virtually impossible to find in a laptop. I usually have to settle for a 1TB HD, but even those are hard to get without shelling out a lot of money these days.

I'm thinking I might swing by Hot Topic in the mall formerly known as Springfield Mall on the way over (trying not to get my hopes up, as it seems they're sold out online of something I want so I want to check the store before I attempt to buy it elsewhere for more than twice its price).
