Actual Conversation About Stranger Things

tarotgalActual conversation I had with my boss yesterday during our weekly departmental meeting:
Me: I'll put together the access list for the server and—IS THAT A DEMOGORGON SITTING ON YOUR COMPUTER?!
Boss: Oh. Yes, I love that show. I'm only a few episodes into it.
Me: THAT IS TERRIFYING! That show fills me with such anxiety, and I'm not sure if it's because it feels too realistic or because children are in peril. Wait, only a few episodes into season 1 or season 2?
Boss: Season 1. But I love the dynamic of a group of people coming together to protect each other.
Me: We call that the "Found Families" trope in the fanfic world.
Boss: Found families. I like that.
Found families FTW! They're so appealing, especially to those of us who have identified as misfits at times in our lives. But the idea of one of my favorite tropes also being one of my boss's definitely caught me off guard. Though it's a common thing in fiction, so maybe it's pretty much everyone's favorite trope ;-)
Also who thinks it's cool to have a terrifying demogorgon sitting right there at face level just inches away while you work? THAT IS SERIOUSLY MESSED UP!
