New word!

I learned a new word this week. I was flipping through a book at the library about George Washington's spies, looking for Hercules Mulligan, and noticed a passage about Mulligan meeting the impecunious Alexander Hamilton.

Impecunious. I made note of it because I didn't know the word and wanted to look it up later. Today I looked it up. And I have a much better way of remembering its meaning now:

After spending more than $800 on Charlie's vet bill today, I am impecunious.

I'm also no closer to figuring out what Charlie's problem is. I was pretty sure it was something wrong with her throat until today. Today, my desperation for her to breathe made me give in and get her allergy tested with two different tests (one for food allergies, one for environmental). She had to fast for 12 hours, but I gave her calming meds and she slept under the blanket with me all night and wasn't bothered until I locked her in my bedroom for an hour this morning while Ozma ate. Anyway, it wasn't until I was leaving the vet that I thought perhaps it's not an allergy at all. Maybe it's asthma. I don't know.

I have 2 days left to clean my house before I have about 20 people over for an afternoon. I'm starting to freak out a little. I can do this. I can do this. It's mostly clean apart from the basement (which is almost okay). But it needs to be re-cleaned so it's perfect. Suddenly I feel like it's Passover (which is a joke only [personal profile] melydia is going to get). I also need to round up blankets and stuffed animals and move the cat tree so there's room for that many people.
