My Word of the Year: Improve

tarotgalI just started a new set of 101 goals, so I don't need resolutions (I like the 101 things in 1001 days format because I get longer to work on my goals than just a year). But the idea of a new year is to evaluate where you are and where you want to go.
So this year I've selected improve as my word of the year. I think I still need to do a better job of keeping last year's word, kindness, in my heart. But there's a lot more I need to improve than just my ability to be kind to someone who is irritating me (myself included). I want to improve my body and continue to get fit (I would LOVE to see my abs one day!). I want to improve my mind and read more deeply and diversely. I want to improve my house and finally fix some things that have been on my list for way too long (my walls still have marks from 2012 where I need to do paint touch-ups). I want to improve my soul and be a stronger part of my local community (I actually started going to a Universal Unitarian church last month that has a strong pagan group). I want to improve my friendships and bonds with my family (I take all of that for granted WAY too often; I want to tell people more often how much I value them in my life). I want to improve my daily routine and form lasting habits that will serve me better (like getting to bed before eleven--aw, shit! How is it 11:08 already?). And I want to do more to improve the world (reduce my carbon footprint, stand up for what I believe, give back whenever possible, share myself whenever possible, etc.). I want to improve my work projects and create better websites and better stories (there is always lots of room to improve on both those fronts). Basically, I want to improve and to keep the spirit of improving in mind whenever I am doing something or creating something.
I think that's MORE than enough to focus on this year without having to create specific resolutions.
